What? I think it was clear Jagr wasn't returning to Philly.

good luck in Dallas, but that's a terrible contract and I'm glad Philly didn't give him that
its a 1 year deal... how in the hell is it a terrible contract? It's not like we are anywhere near the cap...

This +100, the cap hit isn't going to be holding them back in anyway. They were gonna have cap space left so they may as well use it.

Jagr gets his money and Dallas gets a decent player. Win for both sides.

Good chunk of money for Jagr. Regardless, good move for Stars.

Why would people say too much money? It's one year and won't hinder anything with this organization. It's a free asset and they just got a lot better. Good for Dallas. Going to be weird seeing 68 in that Stars jersey.

It will be interesting to see how Jagr's game translates to the West where the checking is a bit tighter and the goaltending is a notch above what is in the East. The Pacific Division is very physical so that may slow him down a bit.

Going to be fun seeing him play in our barn multiple times this coming season. It may make Dallas a playoff team.

Jagr is a pure hitman. Very lethal at what he does and will do his business for anyone if the money is right.

Surprising that Jagr gets a raise after so badly running out of gas after 65 games. Maybe, even though he'll be a year older, he'll get in better shape? $4.5... Wow... But if you've got the money to spend and it's only a year... Still. $4.5 for Jagr. I thought $2.5 would get it done after how sluggish he looked at the end of last year.

Good for the fans of Dallas, he's still a treat to watch. Not sure why people are making a big deal over the price of a UFA who has always been about the money. Not like Dallas didn't have the money, and its only a year.

seriously people are crying over cap hit for only 1 year? It's not like it's your money or something.

Still think Dallas needs some serious D upgrading before they can really be a 'threat'...

Goligoski/Daley/Robidas/Larsen/Fistric/Dillon/Rome hardly strikes fear into other teams, especially with Robidas practically being run out-of-town by Stars fans and Larsen and Dillon (especially Dillon) very much unproven still, albeit with potential. Nemeth and Oleksiak are also on the way but I expect some more moves to bolster their blueline for the here-and-now, considering they've added two 40 year-old wingers this off-season. They have the assets to continue to improve their NHL roster.

Interesting. For Jagr this decision likely hinged on "what decent team will give me the most money," but it could be a good fit. They're going to have a SICK top 6 with Benn, Eriksson, Jagr, Roy, Whitney and Ryder, and they'll have plenty of decent bottom 6ers too like Morrow, Fiddler, Nystrom, Eakin, etc. Their defence is looking quite week, but they have quite a good goalie in Lehtonen, so that should help soften the blow. Very interested to see how good this team can be, they'll be fun to watch at the very least.

great signing given all the cap space. Ott was the most popular player in Dallas. Bet they will make it back in season tickets and jersey sales.

all of a sudden some combo of

Whitney-Benn -Jagr
Erikkson-Roy-Ryder

looks ok

If it fails them Jagr Whitney Morrow Robidas and even Lets make great trade deadline fodder-good gamble

They were able to overpay a bit because they are at the floor but no longer have an internal budget. So no worries about running out of space for one year. Excited as a Stars fan after the last couple days!
