Nice depth move. Like his size and in the playoffs these are the kind of players that make a difference when the top guys are heavily checked. Nice cap number as well
Haven't seen Pyatt play much since his Islanders/Sabres days. For those who've seen him a lot in the last couple years, how good of a PKer is he? Solid at blocking shots and getting in the lanes?

Pyatt didn't play a single second of PK time last year.

Why do people try to use advanced statistics in hockey, it doesnt work. Baseball, sure its applicable, hockey it isnt....at all. Pyatt is a huge improvement over Mitchell, and at a very reasonable Cap hit. Good signing.
He can play. He adds very good depth to this team.
He's a good dude. He should fit in well with this locker room.
I know. I posted last year's stats compared to Duby to show that he totally is worth his cap hit. Compared to Prust (who he's actually replacing), his stats blow him away.
I thought I knew something about Taylor Pyatt having seen him play on the Canucks for a few years (I'm from VanCity) but after reading all your insights and marvelous analysis, I don't know anything anymore
Very bipolar the opinions on Pyatt are... either a great addition or a horrible player.
Any time a player changes scenery, things can change. With Pyatt and the last 3-4 years he's had involving hockey/life, I'm sure NYC will be a nice new start for a guy with a lot of heart and he'll make the most out of it. I like the signing in general and this one I'm hoping will work. Great 2-year contract for very little money and a great guy with room for improvement.
Whether this has something directly to do with Feds, Dubi, trade etc., time will tell!

I personally don't think he's replacing anyone. We didn't have a guy like him last season.
I still feel we need to sign another depth forward like Fedotenko so Rupp and Asham can rotate in and out of the lineup and not have both at the same time.
-So far the Rangers are dominating, but from the little zone time Pyatt had he goes to the front of the net.
-Bickel out battles Pyatt on the boards at the blue line which leads to a scoring chance.
-Finishes checks.
-Chases Callahan and gets caught.
-Nice defensive positioning and to his stick in the lane and stop Girardi backdoor.
-This Gaborik vs playoffs Gaborik is day and night. He has so much more jump in his step and is hungry to score. (I believe this is the game where Smith stops him on a penalty shot in OT)
-There have been so many turnovers forced by the Rangers with Pyatt's line on the ice. I can't blame him for being out of position when they happen, the Rangers are dominating. I should watch a different game because after the 1st period I think Pyatt has been in the Rangers' zone twice. At the end he hit Dubinsky hard enough to send him to the dressing room early.
I am by no means a scout. I thought it'd be cool to share what I saw in the 1st period. I just can't stop admiring the Rangers instead, haha.
