If the Phoenix situation doesn't reach more resolution, I can see Doan being an option for us. We're a contender in a location close enough to see family on a regular basis, and he seems like the kind of player DW would go after (though no ring, hmm...) He'd give us a second solid RW, so it would be interesting how that would change the look of our top 6.

I keep telling myself to be patient, Wilson has to have something up his sleeve... but gah, I am not liking the look of our current roster. (Could be because we're missing an entire line!)
I'm pretty sure his plan is Nash and Doan.

Something like:

in b4 Stars, Coyotes and Ducks win the next 3 cups

with DW subsequently signing a bottom-6/bottom-pair player from each of those teams the year after they win the cup

He can take a walk he's not getting Juicy, I'd rather DW sign Sturm then give up any forward other than Clowe for Nash.

Also, that defense is a downgrade over last season, losing Boyle with no replacement is going to hurt a team that already was pretty terrible in points by defense.
It is a good thing if nobody's game gets brought down due to playing out if position.

Means that no matter what happens in the ice, every one will know there roles if they get caught out of there position. Especially if they are all centers.

I seriously never understood as to how Howsen can ask for Couture?

I am trying to think of some ridiculous package where this may be remotely feasible (for entertainment):

Couture + Handzus (salary dump) for Nash + Ryan Johansen + 1st 2013

Don't really know the CBJ Roster well enough for anything else

Surprisingly, I don't hate it. Looks like we traded Demers, Clowe, and Pavelski + for Nash, and dropped Handzus off at a bus stop somewhere. I hate, hate the thought of losing Pavelski, but the lineup isn't bad

If reports are true that Howson is demanding Couture, we might be able to cross out Nash. In that case, if we do sign Doan, we have a top 7. Which begs the question- where do we put them? Specifically, Pavs. Do we switch him over to the left side of Thornton and put Doan or Havlat on his right, dropping Marleau down to center another line? Drop Pavs down to center? Does it make us more likely to trade Clowe? And for who/what? Just the addition of one top 6 winger gives us unlimited options to change our lineup. Whether we can get one through FA is the question. (answer: not likely, but possible)

Is Burish really going to be a 3rd liner for us? I always thought he was a 4th liner. Not good.

I'm thinking Scott Nichol type use. Starting at the 4th line, maybe some 3rd line promotion in game, with heavy PK time.

Sign Wellwood.

Galiardi - Pavelski - Wellwood
Wingels - Desjardins - Burish

DW doesnt have to make a move, Howson does. Because if he doesnt trade Nash and the Blue Jackets end up sucking next season, he's as good as fired.

One trade wont fix the Jackets. Thats what Howsen wants this 1 trade to do .. but its not going to fix the Jackets up that quick.

Switch Galiardi and Burish in my opinion and put Pavelski back up to the top six

I agree. I liked Wellwoods game while he was with the Sharks. I wish DW would have re-signed him. From what I remeber he is fairly quick and is a good 3rd liner.

A time machine would.

Resign Malhotra and Hejda, don't hire Arniel, keep Chimera, Vermette, Klesla, Voracek and the 1st, draft Couturier.

The only decent move Howsen has made to my knowledge, just happened with the Methot / Foligno trade. And even that was sort of a sketchy sign and trade for an RFA no less.

Nikitin trade was great. Vermette trade was great. Getting JJ for Carter was great.

With the purging of Ribs and Ott...Morrow isnt far behind. I just wonder how much he has left.

I actually really like this line:

Galiardi - Pavelski - Wellwood

They're a little on the small side, but, I think Galiardi can be better than Mitchell, and playing with Pavelski and Wellwood might give him a chance to get back to his original form.

The thing with Dallas is that their GM is perfectly willing to get bent over as long as it's by a GM of an Eastern Conference team. He puts a premium on getting his players out of the West, never mind the Pacific.

Leino

Handzus
Murray

Morrow

Bam. Buffalo unloads the Leino contract and SJ gets Morrow.

Playing with Roy is different from playing with Giroux. But I guess Jagger can still leach off Eriksson's greatness.

4.1 million for 3rd line scoring may be a bit steep. Although Morrow may be an interesting alternative to Clowe, the Stars would never allow that to happen
