Even though the team might be even worse on paper, odds are we won't have the same awful luck and Bergevin's extremely conservative moves suggest no panic moves in the middle of the season. Therrien is a mediocre coach but he tends to get results early on and is far better than RC. I think we can forget Jones and Mackinnon, but we will probably get a top 10 pick, which won't be bad at all in this draft.

Hopefully teams fear European based players like last year to give us a shot at Barkov.

I think we'll make the playoffs next year. We got harder to play against and last year was just a disaster cause of how they handled the coaching situation, Gomez situation and the many injuries (Markov, Gionta, Moen...)

Still, 4 picks in the top 50 is pretty amazing.

A lot can happen between now and next years Entry Draft,Galchenyuk was a dream at the start of last season.Teams that finish last in their Division don't usually make the playoffs the following season.Parity makes reversals of team fortunes a lot tougher now than in the past decade.Seth Jones and Nathan MacKinnon are just two of many prospects that will be playing for a ranking in the Top Ten.Montreal should be in a position to trade up if not in a lottery spot.IMHO Patience and planning is the only positive way to build a Championship Team it's not a race,it's a slow and steady pace!

If we end up with a lottery pick next year, I say we take either Monahan or Barkov. Pretty expectional talents, as well as Jones.

As the Habs stand right now with the picks for next year, we can actually trade up into the lottery using our 2nd round picks (NOT ALL 3), while not trading our prospects and selling the farm. If it isn't enough, add Kristo as we have lots of depth at the RW.

What do you guys think of us getting in the top 5 and pick Hunter Shinkaruk. He's definitely going to add offense to our team for many years to come. The next Jeffrey Skinner.

Shinkaruk would certainly look great in a Hab uniform and Max Domi if we can draft him with a 2nd rounder or two.

That would suck. Don't want to watch another full year of crappy hockey. Don't care if the reincarnation of Crosby Ovechkin Malkin Weber and Kovlachuk are in next year's top 5.

Plus the signings of FB and armstrong could potentially give us more draft picks at the trade deadline if they have decent seasons! And were outta the playoff picture!

Also Desharnais could potentially fitch a first if he has a decent season!
Highlydoubt MB trades DD though!

Nobody's going to throw 1st rounders around in a draft looking to be as deep as 2003... Teams will keep their picks.

People would probably cry since he's small.

Nah..Patrick Kane, Jeff Skinner and Datsyuk are all small forwards. We need a franchise winger to play with Galchenyuk in the future. Shinkaruk will fit just fine. I believe he could be a 50 goal scorer in the NHL at one point in his career.

Nathan MacKinnon,Sasha Barkov,Seth Jones and Hunter Shinkaruk will be really close in the Top Five and MacKinnon is considered a generational talent. He stands to be the player every team will want but any of the others are great consolation prizes. With a very deep Top Sixty players next years draft should be one to remember for the future of the Habs.

MacKinnonn is an excellent young player, but he isn't a generational talent. He's pretty much a lock to be a top 5 pick and potentially be #1. He is the same size and calibre as Yakupov.

I'll bet by June 15, 2013, Seth Jones will not be considered a consolation prize to Nate, I would not be surprised if they are considered 1A & 1B with a very good possibility of Seth edging out Nate as #1!!!

I don't see what all the fuss is, this coming draft is very shallow compared to the 2014 draft which is going to be sooo deep.

just kidding, it's the typycal HFboard garbage about any draft "this year sux, next year's better"

Was it confirmed that Nichushkin is staying in the KHL next year? That should really lower his draft stock. Buchnevich as well. There could be some offensive jems in this class in the later part of the first round.

None of that talk scares a "Deep Sea Diver Like Me" bring it on!Seth Jones with Darnell Nurse could be a great defence pairing from the 2013 draft.Any of the top 8 players will be good if not great, the players these days are all in such great shape.

Nichushkin signed a 3 year deal with the Traktor. I think he's a 5th-7th rounder now…serious.

I don't know if I'd go that far. However, Slephyshev did make it all the way through this year's draft.

Not sure, he's a big talent and I like this contract for a 17 years old, this means that at 20 he can look at his options and then make the jump directly in an NHL lineup.

Anyone else really like Elias Lindholm at the U18 tournament?

We are all Hab fans and want what's best for our team,if the Habs make the Playoffs we will be backing them all the way.If things go the way they did last season, injuries and losing so many close games and we are missing the playoffs then it's just logical to try and gain more draft choices.People can talk about what ifs and which players they would like to see the Habs draft, its something to enjoy not get upset about. Here's to the Habs may we win the Stanley Cup and if we miss the playoffs here's to Seth Jones or Hunter Shinkaruk being a Hab.
