Gonna miss Jags... I think he had a huge influence in the locker room (workout sessions, attitude, etc). Hopefully G learned a lot and continues that kind of work ethic when he becomes captain.

That being said, I am glad we didn't spend that kind of money on him. Hope he has a good year, just not when they play us.

Wow did Dallas overpay or not?

It was kind of fun having Jagr here, but he wasn't getting any younger, there was no reason to believe he'd either be healthier or have more stamina this year; he really looked gassed down the stretch and in the playoffs. Curious what his other offers were, but as usual Jagr took the most money and who cares how good the team is. Can't exactly blame him, but you'd think at this point, after having made what he's made, he'd weigh the chances of having even a decent team around him in the decision.

I will miss him. Classy guy and you could tell he really loved the Flyers, especially playing with Giroux. That being said, 4.5 is too much for us to pay and I'm glad he's getting it elsewhere.

What he said on twitter so pretty damn thoughtful. Salute to you Jags. Best of luck in Dallas.

I feel a bit like this as well. It was great to have Jagr for a year, hopefully the kids paid attention. Unfortunately he ran out of gas before the playoffs began though, and that's where we needed him the most. When the rumours about him coming back for the same, or even a reduced, salary came out a few months ago, that would have been hard to turn for me had I been the GM. Even if I thought there was a shot at landing Parise.

Eriksson-Benn-Jagr
Whitney-Roy-Ryder
Morrow-Eakin-Nystrom

the Stars are making some pretty nifty roster changes so far this off season. If they put Morrow on the trade board, would we be interested?

Going to miss Jags. Watching him at practice was awesome. Always smiling and joking with the other players. Hope he does well in Dallas. I also hope Hartnell can continue playing like he did without him.

This is what I think. I loved having him on the team, and would love to have him for 3.3 mil, but not 4.5.

There is an interview with Jagr on the move on NHL.com right now. Sounds like the plan was for him to resign but obviously the flyers wanted to go in a different direction, and he didn't want to wait.

Understandable.

Meh. He was a non-entity for the final third of the season and he's not young.

Going to miss Jagr but 4.5mil is a lot for a 41 year old, probably saving that cash for Voracek.

It's not the cash, so much as the Flyers can't guarantee him first line minutes and PP time. In Dallas, they can play him to death and make him happy. The growth of Voracek, Simmonds, Read and the eventual need to move Briere back to RW is a logjam there.

Now, there WOULD be room to add Doan. We could fit him in! And if we get Ryan, one of those guys is going in the deal.
