Plus Jagr is Jagr and you know me with him.

Same thought crossed my mind as well.

When the deal gets done - if it gets done - I am starting to believe it's going to take shape in a form that doesn't exactly line up with one of the same combinations that we and the media have been batting around for months now.

Even though the Rangers signed Pyatt today, I don't believe they've closed door on Fedotenko.

That's a lot of bottom sixers. Boyle, Ashem, Rupp, Haley, Anisimov, Dubinsky, Feds, and Pyatt.

Haley could end up in the AHL to start the season, but that just screams a trade could be coming.

Dubi and Arty are going to Columbus, so the bottom six is Hagelin-Boyle-Feds
Pyatt-Rupp-Asham
Haley

There has been reported interest. RT @NYfn311: Is there ANY possibility Semin joins NYR? Goal scorer and could keep current team.

That's a crappy fourth line. Would hope the Rangers would try to target Mueller then. Wouldn't be too expensive.

Also don't see the Rangers moving Dubinsky and Anisimov in the same deal. Boyle should never be centering the third line.

Hell yeah!

I'd prefer Semin to Nash, even though I've been a huge Nash fan since I got into hockey. He should be cheaper and wont cost major assets.

Not a big fan of Semin either, but he is the better player than Nash IMO. Would definitely prefer him.

Kreider - Richards - Gaborik
Hagelin - Stepan - Semin
Dubinsky - Anisimov - Callahan
Pyatt - Boyle - Asham/Feds
Rupp/Asham/Haley/Feds

Dunno if we can keep Semin, Dubinsky and Del Zotto all and stay under the cap, but I guess if we do sign him we'll have a few months to work all of that out. We shouldn't be allowed to go over about 64 mil because Redden counts on the summer cap of 70.3 million.

cap space in this scenario would be a non-issue...unless you are assuming we get nash in addition to semin

Not a fan of Semin at all. Also, he is not as good as Nash. I'm still holding hope for Doan.

Spector says this is the article he was referring to:

NY Post - July 1

Quote:
The GM probably will check with Alex Semin of the Capitals, Jiri Hudler of the Red Wings, Brad Boyes of the Sabres and Ray Whitney of the Coyotes, but is unlikely to offer lucrative multi-year deals to entice any of them.
Sounds like they're real hot on his tail

Would be great to sign Semin. hahaha Howson would be so sad.

I like Nash more than Semin in almost every way. But as someone else already pointed out, not giving up assets is a good thing. Bad thing is, the way this market is, how much do you think he'll want? Only thing that worries me at this point.

Semin is not even close to being as good as Nash. Semin has a phenomenal shot but that is pretty much...it. Very one dimensional.

If you prefer him for contract/asset reasons that is legitimate. Personally I would still rather pay more to acquire a longer term solution, but I cab understand how others feel differently.
