Most agree the cap will be dropping a good deal with the new CBA.

maybe i'm wrong, but didn't contracts get scaled back last time that happened?

either way, if by some stroke of luck they got both (not happening) i'm sure the front office already has some sort of plan laid out to make it work financially.

I believe they did, though I have heard speculation that there will be no relief this time. Of course, it's all speculation at this point. The only thing I know for certain is that I will seriously reconsider where I invest my sports dollar if there is another lockout. (Off topic, I know)

FWIW, in the brief blurb Sportscenter had on free agency, they were talking about Parise and the 5-6 teams still in the mix, and Nashville was one of the teams mentioned. Now on one hand, it's ESPN, and their coverage of the NHL is mediocre at best, but most of the time we're not even considered worthy of mention by the media that does cover the NHL, so who knows?

You bury them in the minors where their cap hit doesn't count against you ... or loan them to a Euro league. See Cristobal Huet.

IIRC the Devils were over the cap a year or two ago to start the year, and they only had 19 on their roster to start the season.

Not that you guys care what I think but FWIW, if the Wings dont get Suter I really hope he ends up back with you guys.

Penguins - Yuck, dream team on ice.
Wild - i'd be really upset if they got him as they have done nothing to deserve a player of his caliber joining their organization. It wouldn't make sense for him to join the Wild over the Predators IMO. They have proven nothing and I think if he went there he'd be extremely disappointed with his decision a few years down the road.

Had Poile traded Suter last offseason, not only would he have gotten a decent return, but also would be able to know the direction we are going right now instead of waiting on Suter

Okay, yes, I'm a little buzzed, and yes, it's 2:00 am, but if the reports from the main board are true about Suter signing in MIN, well I'm going to be really, really pissed. I get the fact that it's close to his home, I get the fact that he's going to get a ******** of $, but that's Liepold's team. For a guy that *****ed about "we can never keep guys" and the main players they brought up were from the CL firesale, well, that is just a ridiculous amount of hypocrisy. If that's the truth, then screw him. Sorry, but I can honestly say that if he signs with the Wings, as much as I'd hate it, the winning history makes sense, but the Mild, for Christ's sake, that puts him in the very same situation he was in several years ago. Talk about a step backwards, and yes, that includes Parise signing there. ZP's good, but he's not "hold the entire league hostage while I made a decision" good.

God, I hope it's just a false tweet.

If it's true that Suter and Parise want to play on the same team because it has been reported that they have constantly been conversing, then the only viable options would be the Wild or the Preds. No doubt the Wild would offer slightly more money for both, but I think in terms of winning a Stanley Cup they would be better off at the Preds.

My bet though is Suter goes to the Red Wings and Parise to the Wild. Just my two cents...

Suter seriously wouldn't be able to justify a move to the Wild other than he went there for a couple million more dollars. Mark my words, if he does join the Wild he will regret it BIGTIME. Their prospect pool is average, inconsistent goaltending, inconsistent scorers, poor management.

Yeah, I can kindof understand picking Detroit, just because it's Detroit. But Minny? Really?

cooper doesn't know jack ****.

simply states the obvious. notice the "i don't believe..." part. he doesn't know more than anyone really. wish we had an actual decent insider.

he is gone and hopefully it comes early today so we can set forth other things in motion.

What more could DP have done? Besides trade him? Suter lied to his face and you want to blame management?!? I will agree that Poile doesn't make the most aggressive moves but GMDP did everything in his power to keep Suter. He tried tradin for Rick Nash and Nash said no. How is that DP fault?

To hell with Suter. He is nothing hit a Diva. We still have the best defensemen in the league in Shea. Trust me, Suter will not be near as good without Shea.

Now Poile doesn't need to go through this again. He needs to go to Shea and say I am not doing this again. We want you here long term. And if Shea pulls the crap that Suter did then you don't even hesitate and trade him to the highest bidder.

Haha making an announcement on a holiday would be ****ing stupid. I, for one, don't plan to be attached to the internet for updates today. I don't care where he signs. I'll be spending the day working, and then with family, and then with friends. Have fun with your presser, Suter.

It's GMDP's anniversary today..shows you the kind of "class" Fredo Suter has if these latest rounds of rumors are true.

Is there really any possibilty of both signing here?? Like are we REALLY actually making a big push right now or is it all just rumors and nothing concrete?

Facts: We have made offers to both players (source: GMDP). We have not been told "no" by either player (source: GMDP). Other teams who have made offers have been told they're out of it, at least for Parise (source: Dallas Stars official Twitter).

Pretty much everything else is rumor...rumors about term, money, who has a list of what teams, etc.
