I heard the supplement Aleardi was suspended for taking might not have even been listed on the label of whatever it was he took. The OHL handed down the minimum sentence possible by their rules and sounded like they felt sorry they even had to give the kids that much (but the rules are the rules). He and one other kid were suspended at the same time.

As for Calvert, I thought players had to have one year or less of AHL experience to participate in the camp. Calvert has now been in the AHL for two seasons so he would be disqualified from participating. Someone can correct me if I am wrong.

Everyone without power and air conditioning should head on down!

Looks like Joel Hanley from UMass-Amherst has been added to the list.

For the prospect followers, that's http://twitter.com/#!/jhanz44

EDIT: Can't seem to find much in the way of scouting reports. I did find this from 2009; it's the THN top-100 for the draft, plus risers and fallers.

http://www.thehockeynews.com/article...-09-draft.html

Quote:
A relative unknown when the season began, the young Newmarket defender is taking the Ontario Provincial Junior A League by storm. Although he doesn’t crack the 6-foot barrier, Hanley has a very strong base, excellent vision and a defensive game that will translate at any level. The more we watch him, the more we realize he is better than a lot of the Ontario League defensemen he is up against and as a result, he has been shooting up in our rankings.
Others risers: Marcus Foligno, Dmitri Kulikov, Scott Glennie, Olivier Roy.

Was there any reason why the Ice Haus doors were locked? I was down there around the time the camp was going on and couldn't get in.

I got there 3:15 and walked right in. Nice size crowed, too. I have no idea why they locked you out

Did you try to use the main entrance doors near Tim Horton's?

The Side doors that run along the rink are always locked

Shawn Mitchell used the word "swole" to describe Johansen and I had to look it up. Glad to hear Johansen is filling out his body but this has to be the dumbest word I have heard since baseball announcers started using the phrase "going yard".

Probably the doors were locked only for the Penguins fans.

Must be the first time in the history of this franchise we haven't catered specifically towards Penguins fans...

Yeah. I always use those doors to watch my friends play hockey/free skates.

Yes, that was the reason.

Anyone else really intrigued at how much better Johan can be next season given that he's already gained 14 pounds so far this offseason? I'm curious how big of a step he'll take this season with the added weight and how much work he's putting in.

Went down there today and was impressed with the size of the crowd that showed up (stands mostly full plus some standing near the glass). I don't recall seeing TJ Tynan on the ice today - anyone know what's up with him?

jruss, apparently it is today's lingo for being buff but I assume it is short for swollen. It's pretty stupid to me though!

Just got back from camp:

Does anyone know why TJ Tynan wasn't on the ice? I was trying to google to see if he was injured or anything, but couldn't find anything.

Watched Murray pretty closely. I know it's just development camp, but I think he has a lot of work to do between now and September if he's hoping to make the team.

We were wondering the same thing, I was really impressed by him last year, was hoping to see him get better. Also, here's a link to some pictures I took today, they're not Photog Chris quality, but they're better than what CBJ's twitter puts up: http://www.flickr.com/photos/wofspho...7630421959270/

A couple things really stood out to me in today's session.

Ryan Murray didn't look too good early, then really picked it up.

I was really drawn to Daniel Zaar. With the exception of one fumbled backhand, it seemed like every time the puck hit his stick, it stuck. I started paying attention to him a bit more...lightning-quick release, heavy shot. I'll be keeping a closer on him.

I didn't see Tynan or Anton Blomqvist out there.

I know he's on the roster, but maybe Tynan suddenly couldn't afford to pay for the camp or something.

tynan hurt his wrist and isn't competing and Anton tweeted me saying he won't be on ice this week and it sucks...but no reasons...

The kids and I went down today, and I asked them to take their attention off of Atkinson and Johansen for a bit and look for one relatively less known player that they thought looked good. The both liked Zaar, and me too. He had a pretty good day. I also liked Korpisaloo in goal (sp?).
