Salo's RD. AV switched up the points on the PP sometimes so the pointmen were shooting from their opposite sides. As for his speed...he's not slow by NHL standards when he's in one piece, but he plays a very smart game positionally so he's rarely in the position to get burned. He's not going to go meandering off down the boards and he does have the experience to know when to back off. Generally plays it very safe. For the record though, his slapshot is not phenomenally accurate. If he's winding up, pray your forwards aren't in his shooting lane. He is one of the very few players whose shot is hard enough to beat an unscreened goalie, though. Top of the faceoff circle? He can blow it right past them.

Can't be too careful. Seriously, the guy got hurt at a photo shoot once. BloatedGuppy is quite right; his injury history can swing from comedy to tragedy and back again.

Another brick in the 'world class' wall.
We're all going to miss him. Definitely a class guy all the way across the board.

Well, those fat media douches can read the same injury reports we do. I mean, the human body can only take so much punishment before pieces start permanently shutting down. There have been more than a couple of times where I think it was appropriate to have serious doubts about his future quality of life. I love the guy to bits and hope he keeps going in Tampa, but I don't want to see him in an iron lung by the time he's 50. The guy's legs must look like a road map of Helsinki.

The bolded part is good enough for me. Somebody who won't give up constant shorthanded rushes? Yay!

Let's just say that at times last year our PP was actually a PP for the other team.

Yes. Kubina, Clark, and Hedman all had to treated for whiplash many times caused by them turning their heads too quickly watching the opposing forward rush to the net behind them. The Exorcist defence

As the video replay shows: the photographer intentionally and deliberately targeted Salo's head. While we don't believe there was an intent to injure, the onus is on the cameraman to avoid or minimize shots around the head.

Good signing. The guy brings size, mobility, offense, and a steady defense. Two years=perfect.

I wouldn't worry too much about Salo getting injured. Vinik baby-proofed the TBTF during renovations.
