Nash => San Jose

Semin & Carle => Detroit
Ryan & Doan => NYR (Giving up Dubinsky, possibly AA/Hagelin, prospect + ev pick)

Agreed?

For me it'd be:

Doan - Rangers
Parise, Suter - Wild
Semin, Carle - out West somewhere

Ryan is a pipedream. You'd have to blow away Anaheim with an offer for them to trade him. I'd be very surprised if Ryan is not with Ducks when the season starts (whenever that is).

Nash will traded here.

Ryan would be better but it won't happen.

And if nothing happens with the Yotes I see Doan wanting to come here unless Dallas gets him first..

Ryan Suter decision today should soon be followed by a Zach Parise decison. There's a lot of moving parts here

Brooks talking with the agent for Doan and getting him to talk about the Rangers on the record helps Doan when he is ready to talk contract and it helps the Rangers with Columbus. Doan is good for 20-25 goals. Its a shorter commitment.

Most if not all of the above trades were money related, they couldn't afford to keep them all (how many Cups would they have won if they were able to keep that team together? Gretzky, Kurri, Coffey, Fuhr, Messier, Anderson, Lowe, etc.) and Pocklington was having money issues due to loans due to be paid to the Alberta government for his other businesses, which were going bankrupt.

I've haven't always been a Glen Sather fan, especially in his first few years as Rangers GM with trying to buy a Stanley Cup; in Edmonton in his later years there, he was hamstrung financially in keeping his teams together. It took him until the lockout to figure out that spending on big free agents doesn't always work. The Drury and Gomez signings were received positively at the time, but they didn't work out. Sather somehow got Bob Gainey to take Gomez off his hands when everyone thought his contract was untradeable, and got McDonagh who has blossomed here. Up until that point, Montreal didn't think he ever would. There has been more good than bad with Sather in recent years; (now watch him give up the farm for Nash, after I praise him! I am NOT giving up a 2013 no. 1 draft pick for him. Maybe a 2014 no. 1, depending on how good that draft is).

The Nash situation, hopefully will be settled one way or another soon after Parise/Suter sign, so we can all move on. I don't blame them for taking their time, as frustrating as it might be for fans. Would rather have one of the Anaheim 3, but that may not be as doable, especially if the price is exhorbinant. At this point, I'd rather sign Semin, trade for 1 of the Anaheim 3, just to stick it to Howson.
The reason why he traded them isn't the issue. The returns are what made the Oilers a scrub franchise for 20 years.

The 1990 Cup was all Messier and Ranford. The "Kid" Line was their 3rd line and contributed in spurts. Muckler hated Klima but had no choice to play him in the OT.

The fact is that if you are forced to trade an entire wing of the Hall of Fame, you should get at a minimum acquire assets to sustain some form of winning hockey.

Sather didn't do that.

The mighty seem to fall fast in this league.

Both Detroit and Colorado, for example, have all the cap space in the world and several core pieces in place. Add two Parise and Suter to either team and both look really good going forward. But they just don't seem to be that attractive anymore.

Rangerboy: What are your thoughts on Nash?

Would you prefer a Ryan instead? Doan?

Just curious as to ideally how you would hypothetically handle it.

Not sure why a team like Wild would be more attractive to Suter than Detroit. He'd play with Kronwall in Detroit compared to bunch of young kids in Minny.

Might be able to get him on the cheap due to his injury issues.

But for the same reason, wouldn't you rather sign Mueller and not give up anything?

Should the Rangers acquire Nash, the package is expected to include two roster forwards and a combination of prospects or picks, which means the Blueshirts will likely sign or trade for one more NHL forward.
http://www.newsday.com/sports/hockey...deal-1.3820749

Hagelin-Richards-Gaborik
Dubinsky-AA-Callahan
Kreider-Stepan-
Pyatt-Boyle-Asham
Rupp

Dubinsky and Hagelin or AA

Dubinsky is in the deal for cap reasons

If they fork over 2 roster forwards,is Miller one of the prospects?

Stop coaching Pat

Quote:
Of the remaining Ranger forwards, that would seem to point to speedy 23-year-old winger Carl Hagelin — who had 38 points in 64 games in his rookie season playing frequently on the Blueshirts’ top line — and possibly 19-year-old prospect J.T. Miller, the Blueshirts’ 2011 first-round pick who had 62 points (25 goals) in 61 games with the OHL’s Plymouth Whalers.

The Rangers organization is high on Hagelin and Miller, but something will have to give somewhere if they wish to land Nash.

Me. I wanted Jordan Staal. Would have given up Stepan to get Staal and then signed him to 10 years/$60M.

Sather will look to get the deal on his terms. Probably for Nash. The NMC limits the market.

Doan would be a very good addition. Doan, bring back Stralman or add a veteran RD and I'd be very happy.
