Minnesota has a very bright future.

Really nice prospect pool.

Great hockey market.

Lots of reasons for signing there.

Well they havent made the playoffs in 4 seasons right? That's not exactly a winning track record. He should have stayed in Nashville. He's going to regret this decision greatly in a few years IMO.

tbh if it isn't detroit then i want it to be Minnesota. Nothing really bad to say about the franchise and they have a great fanbase. I can see why he'd want to sign there.

In fact, Minnesota is probably the only other Western Conference team that I might find myself rooting for if Detroit is knocked out.

It is a solid group of d-men.

Gilbert, Scandella, Spurgeon, Falk, Stoner.

They all can handle decent minutes but really lack a PP presence as well as physicality. This d-core can survive but it is just decent and won't survive the rigors of playoffs.

Suter will help that.

Nashvilles future will be determined by Weber. Perhaps Suter knows that Weber won't resign. Who knows?

Yep.....Suter and Parise going there would be cool. Great arena, market, prospects.

The wild do have one drawback:

They have maybe the ugliest colors/uniform design/combinations in all of hockey.

They should make a deal with Dallas to reaquire their old logo/Uniform design.

Seriously...

Solid is pushing it a bit...

Gilbert and Spurgeon can handle big minutes and be steady. But beyond that, there's really no consistency. Or offense.

It's a big reason as to why they're chasing Suter and why they've selected Brodin and Dumba in subsequent drafts. That defense would still be fairly shoddy this season if they do land Suter but things will be looking up moving forward, in my view.

Being an Oiler fan I can relate.

I can only imagine your reaction when Weber goes ufa.

Ownership in Nashville has to show the league they are serious about spending money to improve the team. Signing Rinne was a nice start, but too little too late apparently. Suter and Weber spent years flailing away on their own with little or no help.

They grew tired of it.

And Nashville has done what over their brief History? I know when I think of Nashville I think of a hockey hotbed. Who wouldn't wanna play in front of 12000 screaming hillbillies? Really? Get a clue.

having a good prospect pool doesn't guarantee success (that is all he said). nobody knows exactly what will happen 5 years down the road when those prospects start making the jump to the nhl, maybe they become the next sheppard, maybe they become the next crosby.

Good for Minnissota if they both sign there. The Wild fans deserve something like this.

None of the Wild fans have ever said anything different. We actually can recognize more than one team can have a good team and a great prospect pool.

5'9 sophomore Jarred Spurgeon I kid you not.

Anyways,

Dumba/Brodin
Suter/Gilbert
Spurgeon/Scandella
Larsen or Cuma or whoever makes it

That's an extreme solid top 6 right there for the future. Lol at Nashville fans thinking they're a better market and have a better future than Minnesota. Nsh can keep Suter and Minnesota would still be better cos they can afford to spend and have a better group of young players.

Minnesota will be a good team next season if they get both. They were pretty good last year, but had a lot of injuries.

I would put them in the bottom 4 of playoff teams next year. Nothing ever goes as planned though.

No, but having a good pro roster isn't guaranteed success either. People get injured, people become free agents, people get traded.

What the Wild can offer is big money, longterm contract, great fans, great hockey environment, Suter and Parise being "THE" guys, both are close to family and friends, and a bright future with bright youngsters.

If you are signing for the rest of your hockey career, it becomes more than just a good current team. It becomes about family, your position with the team, and a good core of youngsters.

@ obey (can't quote you for some reason) - It sucks when Nashville gets crapped on like this when he signs in Minny, but if it's in Detroit then who cares about Nashville, right?

Hoping Minnesota lands both of them, that franchise deserves a boost like this.
