I wouldn't mind Stastny for Bouwmeester if Colorado could find a hard nosed center to replace PS. It significantly upgrades Colorado's defense while removing the whole issue of which Avs center is third line.

Landeskog - O'Reilly - Jones
Hejduk - Duchene - Parenteau
McGinn - (Arnott?) - Downie
McLeod - Mitchell - Kobasew

Bouwmeester - Johnson
Hejda - O'Byrne
Zanon/O'Brien/Wilson

But overall I'm not warm to trading away Stastny. Still, I don't think the difference between Ryan Suter and Jay Bouwmeester is as much as people think.

Slightly OT but I was going through the JBo rights traded to Cgy thread from '09 (http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/sh...d.php?t=655544) and things change lol:

Flames and Flyers now boast some of the best defense in the league.

Phaneuf and J-Bo will be a very solid tandem for years to come.

I do.

I can't really see the Avs being interested in this guy or really wanting to 'help' the flames out in any way. They have a big hole at CENTER, we have a hole for a top pairing guy.

However, if we go another direction and fill our need, then at least we don't help calgary out of their mess, which is a bonus considering they are division rivals.

Plus, I think that the Avs really need to hit a home run with the acquisition of a partner for EJ and I don't see Jay-Bo as the right fit in that case.

I really don't think we're going to get that #1/#2 guy this year.

We might get Carle as a filler, and later move him to #3.

Stastny isn't getting traded this season though...we finally have 6 skilled enough wingers to play with our 3 centermen.
No. Phaneuf is a floater.

I'm not a fan of our top 3 lines, not enough danger. I wouldn't be against trading Stastny + pick/Barrie or elliot for a top end Winger. I'd also like if we'd one day make a move for Iginla but the odds of that happening are virtually nonexistent. I have good confidence in ROR and Dutchy to be our 1-2 punch down the middle. Landy, PAP, and either Mcginn or Jones as our top 3 wingers (note i don't know how good Mcginn will be, or if he can maintain a second line status. +Hedjy will retire soon... ) Anyway, we have some depth which sure as hell is a good thing.

I think I have to disagree. While a lot of people look at it from a "top-end" point of view, I look at it from a well-balanced point of view. It's much harder for other teams to defend, THREE solid lines that can score on you than only TWO, especially if one or both of those lines, just don't have 'it going' on that particular night.

I think that both the 'RoR-Lando-Downie' and the 'Staz-McGinn-Jones' lines proved near the end of the season that they could be dangerous. The only things that screwed it all up was that the Duchene line was not all that dangerous and Downie's injury really limited him.
