Why did they get barch when jenssen is still on their team?
They replaced Boulton. I really liked Barch. He could play hockey. Always seemed to get a good scoring chance every now & then. And the breakaway he had was dope! Would've loved to have him back but oh well.
Twitter reports are that the Canes are out of the Nash race, Howson supposedly askin for Skinner. He's out of his mind, Nash isn't close to that level of player. CBJ should've fired this guy, what're they thinking??

I think this is a case of Howson trying to do everything to keep his job. Which, he believes is bending over another GM for Rick Nash, because I am sure if the return isn't good enough, he's gone. So I'd imagine he is doing everything he can to get the best possible deal. That being said, Jeff Skinner >>> Rick Nash. Howson should know that's an automatic no.
Don't see the big deal in Howson asking for the moon.
It's like a guy who doesn't want to sell his 7 year oldcar, but his wife wants him too, so he puts it on ebay right around MSRP price.
If he can get that crazy offer, he'll trade off Nash, if not he'll gladly keep Nash for Training Camp +.
I lol at the butthurt Devil fans. Zach didn't give up during the stretch, and he left.
He spent 7 years there, decided to move on, his right as an UFA, so be it.
If Bouw didn't play like ****, I wouldn't of disliked him. Same with Garrison, no ill will with him signing with Vancouver, GL to him.
I think it's more shock that they've just lost a star player and now obviously taking out that frustration on the guy. Must suck to be a Devils fan right now

Nothing is wrong with asking for/demanding the moon and stars, but he's not goin to get it. They probably won't do too bad at this point, just depends on how long this gets dragged out.
Probably last time to get a contract like this, so Weber must be delighted. Preds sure aren't. What's left of their contending team if they don't match? They already lost Suter. I think they have to match, if they can. Four first rounders from Philly is nothing special, unless Preds want to start rebuilding now.
If they can't match, I'm hoping Preds could trade Weber to someone else (who can match the offer) for sometbing better.

If they can't match, then thats it. Weber is practically a Flyer now.

Don't like this, so am hoping for another kind of solution. Does the CBA say that once an offer sheet has been signed, a player cannot be traded elsewhere?
Edit: after reading the main board it looks like Weber is not considered Preds property any more, so they can only match or receive comp.
Another thing to be changed in the new CBA... the compensation is way too low.
I wouldn't say he's practically a Flyer. It'd definitely be smarter to match the offer than trade him later...but nobody knows the Preds finances right now. They may not be able to match such a front-loaded deal.
Four firsts is nothing to sneeze at, that's huge for both teams. Preds can use those in trades, and Philly's stockpile is stunted for 4 years, even of they are a top team during that time, all teams need the draft.
Still, that's not a bad deal for Weber by any means, get your captain and one of the best d-men in the league for about 7 per.
Yeah, 4 1sts is a huge haul. Even though they aren't established players, that's definitely a fair return for a superstar. It sucks for Nashville's playoff hopes in the near term though. But Poile will keep the ship steady enough, he's one of the most underrated GMs. They can rebuild for a couple years, well they really have no other choice. It's good for us though, even though I do feel bad for Nashville. When you think about it, they are the team most likely to move into our division whenever Winnipeg moves out West. It looks much rosier not having to face Weber and Suter every time we play them.

Also, a player who signs an offer sheet and is then matched by the original team cannot be traded for at least a year from that point.

Reason: clarified
Ive only been a hockey fan for about a year so im not sure about the draft. Is it like the NBA where outside the top 10, maybe 15, picks arent expcted to pan out or like the NFL where all first rounders are expected to be key players. I always thoought it was somewhere in between. how valuable are those 4 picks?
