Was kind of hoping you guys kept Suter. As a Canucks fan I'd love Weber.. but I was really enjoying the current Preds regime, great roster.

I wouldn't sweat too much about it Trotz will have the team back in the playoffs again regardless.

Poile: "There's no team in the NHL that did more at the trade deadline."

Sounds like Poile is pissed, and you know what, I'm right there with him. Arg.

I agree with the Wild not being a lock. The Preds are decent on D after Weber. The Wild are still garbage on D after Suter.

I bought it. I always thought Suter was going to be the one to stay, and that Weber would be $ hunting elsewhere. Still don't have that much faith in Shea...

brought in a couple of slacker ***** (Radulov & Kostitsyn), wasted a 1st on a 4th line face-off specialist, a Hal Gill that got injured soon after he got here ... yeah, Poile did a lot at the trade deadline.

if the difference in the contracts were actually 8 million dollars, then that actual number is going to be lower. Remember, Minnesota has a state income tax where tennessee does now. I haven't researched the state tax brackets up there but I'd be willing to bet instead of making 8 million more over the course of 13 years, it will be more like 4 million more as half of that would likely go to the state of minnesota.

Poile offered $90m over 13 years

Pierre LeBrun ‏@Real_ESPNLeBrun
Poile says Predators never got a chance to make a counter-offer. Clearly irked.

Going to go ahead and jump on the Suter hate bandwagon; don't think there was anything Poile could have done to sway him.

I do officially hate the Wild. It's weird because the Wild USED to be one of my favorite Western Conference teams. Both you guys and the Devils are very similar in how teams are built. So I'm sure we will get through this and move on.

I feel really bad for you guys. As a Ducks fan, I'm excited not to have to face Suter anymore, but I also realize we're likely to go through the same exact thing next year with Getzlaf and Perry which is going to be far worse (at least you guys still have Weber).

An ultimatum should have been made to Hamhuis and Suter either right before the last year of their contract or before the trading deadline of, "sign or we are trading you and making your life inconvenient".
So now, make the ultimatum to Weber and quit trying to be the nice franchise. You see where it has now lead.

Hey guys, well that ****ing sucks.

Doesn't sound like Suter was the person he was supposed to be not giving the opportunity to match and well, I'm pretty pissed at Parise spewing all of his Devils ******** before bolting.

Whatever, life moves on. I hope you guys lock up Weber. It sucks, but it comes with the territory of great scouting and amazing development... we've lost tons of players throughout the years to other teams and we've been alright.. here's to both teams beating the ****ing Wild next year.

Two playoff series wins in franchise history. How ****ing sad.

Suter played Poile. He knew he wanted to go to MN and they would give him a gigantic offer and should have just told him that and we could have done some other deals before now when we'll have to compete with everyone else who lost.

I can't wait until the first, "yeah, I love playing in minnesota" comes from Fredo's mouth. You better love those -13 degree highs in january and your joke of a goalie behind you....13 years of it will be fun!!!!!

Can't blame him.

Suter did exactly what I would have done. Took more money to play at home.

If I was in Minnesota and Nashville offered me more money to come home, i'd take it.

Again, we need to look at the opportunity here. I've said this on here dozens of times, it was never good team building to have so much money tied up in 2 phases of the game (defense/goaltending). We would never have been able to put together anything more than a mediocre forward corps with that much money tied up in defense.

Lets see what Poile does next.

That pissed me off when I read it. Didn't Suter say Nashville would be aware of everything going on? He's a ****.

Another hockey hug from New Jersey.
Hopefully there are enough fireworks and beer to go around to help us all forget that we got hosed by the Minnesota Wild.

So Ryan and Zack are apparently much closer friends than Ryan and Shea.
