It's hilarious because they did the EXACT same thing to Atlanta fans, and trolled everybody, and now that it has happened to them it has come full circle and they feel insulted.
And they are laughing at the 13 year term when they tried to sign Kovalchuk for 17 years.
What was he going to say, No? LOL That's just dumb. Well, the Wild are a cap team now, but that roster sure doesn't look all that great for a cap team. Almost 22 million for Parise, Heatley, and Koivu. Yuck

Yeah, he is going to say "yes."
But my point was more "can we win?" texts. I mean, what is that all about? If you don't even know it going in, then it really is all about the money.
I find it rather ironic that Devils fans, who were celebrating like they won the Cup when Kovalchuk re-signed with them, are ready to tear Parise to shreds. Enjoy 15 years of Kovalchuk. As for this contract, I personally think it is ridiculous to commit this type of term and dollars to a winger.

And they still have Kovalchuk for the next 13 years, the next 5 with 11+ million in cash.
Funny, because neither of them are worth that kind of money.
Which is why it is very hard to build a cup winner with UFAs. Kings only UFAs on the roster? Mitchell and Scuderi. Making less than $7 million combined.
Thank you to the Flyers for getting Richards and Carter to commit for a low cap hit.

Exactly my thoughts as well. Karma's a boomerang.
While we don't have a lot of evidence to go on, I think everyone that thought albatross contracts would come back to bite teams down the road now have a very concrete example.
Although Craig Leipold is officially a hypocrite now:
A: “We’re not making money, and that’s one reason we need to fix our system. We need to fix how much we’re spending right now. [The Wild's] revenues are fine. We’re down a little bit in attendance, but we’re up in sponsorships, we’re up in TV revenue. And so the revenue that we’re generating is not the issue as much as our expenses. And [the Wild's] biggest expense by far is player salaries.”

Sure reeks of a 1 line team to me. They better hope guys like Setoguchi, Cullen, Bouchard and Granlund step up big.
