Trade Weber?
Should David Poile trade Weber if he doesn't accept a long term deal?

Of course. We need to get as much as we can out of him and begin this new era as smoothly as possible.

If he won't sign a 10 year $75-80 mil deal today you trade him for sure.

Absolutely! And I would strip the C from him if we are stuck with him for a year, as well. He doesn't deserve it.

Yes. I would be shocked if Poile didn't.
I would laugh so hard if we convinced Nash to waive his NMC to come to Nashville, just so we could ship Weber's ass to Columbus.
How fast do you think the Weber situation will move?

I'd start shopping him now. He has been waiting Suter out seeing what he would do. Now that he's gone, Webs won't sign here... or at least I just don't see it.

You waive the cash cow in front of his face. If he doesn't take it, then I don't think you have a choice but to trade him.

Poile has now lost Hamhuis and Suter for nothing. Will Weber join that crew?

Probably. Can a track record get much worse than Poile's as far as losing talent? I know at times there have been circumstances beyond his control, but wow, lol.

I forgot about that. However, he likely could have gotten more if he did it the previous offseason. But he wasn't for nothing.

Let him sign an offersheet if it's for less than 5 years and not to Detroit/St Louis/ Chicago let him walk. If it's to those teams or 5+ plus match it.

Poile: "Shea is totally on board. I have to believe this is a big disappointment for Shea today."
Let's hope this is true and it's not a gong show like this past year with Suter. Trying to remain optimistic.

If we did somehow keep Captain Canada longterm, I wouldn't care about losing Suter.

In his control (aka, not the firesale of 07) .... this is what one major player lost in return for nothing from the Preds, as far as players the team kept pursuing? Ward was let go once he made it clear what he wanted and the team thought it was too much. Sully was allowed to go to make room for younger players. AK and Rads both allowed to walk. A decision was made to keep Hamhuis for the stretch run and his rights were flipped for pieces that turned into SOB. Ellis was traded away to get SK. Traded Arnott. Bought out Dumont. Traded Franson and Lombardi.

here is shea weber's conundrum if he doesn't want to sign long term, as in a 6-7 year deal.
The CBA. Owners want to try and make 6 years a contract maximum. If you are Weber, do you take the security of a 10-12 year deal now, or do you gamble and see how it plays out?

100% absolutely yes. If he doesn't sign LT, trade him to the highest bidder. I don't care if it is the CBJ

Weber should absolutely be traded ASAP if he doesn't want to sign. And I think the perfect deal is with Edmonton:
Paajarvi + Gagne + 2 1st round picks (or Petry and one first) for Weber
or
Yakupov + one of Paajarvi/Gagner + Petry/1st for Weber

I thought about giving you guys a few days to process this, but since this thread is open, what about the Flyers?
B. Schenn
L. Schenn
2013 1st
(+?)
Obviously B. Schenn is the centerpiece--I'm not sure he will ever be a true 1C--but he can be a very good 1B-type.
L. Schenn would give Nashville a nice defensive defensemen to pair with guys like Josi or Ellis.
The package would provide a certain amount of marketing value as well, etc.
Thoughts? Too little? Too soon?

I wouldn't trade Weber if I were you guys, at least not right away. Strong chance UFA age gets raised and thus you would keepmhisnrights for longer.
It would be a kick in the balls in away regarding today, because it is absolutly dumb that the CBA expires in September rather thanin June after the season, like in the NBA
