Question is how good will Suter be without +82 games next to Weber?
Suter will be just fine, he's not as flashy are Weber but there is a reason he got paid silly as a defenseman. he is damn good.
Weber is more flashy and has a bigger shot but Suter depending on your preference is the better defenseman.
I think both will have a drop off in play. I think Weber's defensive game will look less spectacular, and his offense will drop off a bit. I think Suter's offense will drop off pretty significantly, and his defensive game will be less intimidating (especially if he is paired with Tom Gilbert).
Don't you remember when we signed Selanne and Kariya how everyone thought (myself included) that we'd completely destroy the league??
And that was adding those 2 guys, in the prime of their careers, to an already stellar cast consisting of : Sakic, Forsberg, Hejduk, Tanguay, Blake, Foote, Liles, Morris???
We didn't even get to the conference finals.
Minnesota is well behind what the Avs were at that point.
As far as all their shakeups, I personally believe that Nick Shultz for Tom Gilbert is a step backwards. I don't believe Gilbert is that good at all, I'm not a fan of his. The rest fo their D is a bit of a question mark.
Don't get me wrong, they've improved but it's not like these 2 players are going to make them immediate Stanley Cup contenders, it's not.
If you really think it does, you are putting WAYYYY too much emphasis on what 1 forward and 1 d-man can do on a team.
I'm talking about Seto etc; you're trying very hard to remain optimistic though, I'll give you that.
I can't believe this was all about money, after both guys said it had nothing to do with money.
They both went to the team and city that were probably tops on their list, and neither had to take a lesser deal because of it. They knew Minny was desperate, so they just sat around on their fat wallets for a few days and watched the price go up and up and up, and when all the teams including Detroit dropped out because of the price, they said "ok we'll take that one."
I hope the cap drops in the next CBA, and stays that way for a while, so their greed keeps Minnesota from having depth and winning a cup. What a circus act they just put the NHL and fans through so they could squeeze every penny out of their home team.
I don't know why so many people hate minny now for these signings. I'm sure if the avs landed any of the big 2 FA they would've had to overpay too. I'm not going to lie, I'm jealous that they got both but they have a lot of other holes to fill too. Sometimes teams have to overpay to get who they want and I'm sure if the avs signed either one and overpaid, fans from other teams would be jealous and hate the avs for it too.
I don't know who this is, though they have nearly 5k followers, but it's exciting.

I'd be very surprised and also very excited if they did sign him. Surprised because that would force Hejduk to the 4th line essentially and excited because he's a pretty exciting player. The 'character question marks' are always a concern though but like a lot of you guys have said, he's probably gonna have a "I'm gonna show you MOFOs what I'm all about" and that's never a bad thing.
I still can't really see it but it makes sense if Hejduk is going to retire after this year and it would be hilarious from a detroit point of view. hahaha
Good news is Minny doesn't have the cap to add Weber next season.
they have 6M in cap gone next season with Backstrom coming off the books (if they want) and you can always trade to make cap space. I don't think Weber will go there but there's always a way to make it happen.
Kroenke's need to open the wallet. Getting semin or carle would be a sign of faith that the ownership is willing to make this team better instead of only trading to build the team and still hugging the floor.
