Looking for thoughts on this. Would Colorado do this? Would Toronto? Does this actually help both clubs long term? Would any other team step up and pay more than this for Stastny?

C Joe Colborne, 22, $0.875M x 1
W Nikolai Kulemin, 26, RFA
W Clarke MacArthur, 27, $3.25M x 1
Toronto Maple Leafs acquire:
C Paul Stastny, 26, $6.6M x 2
W Milan Hejduk, 36, $2.0M x 1 (Colorado's option to include him or not)

-Stastny, Duchene and O'Reilly gives Colorado three top-2 centers.
-Stastny has had back-to-back disappointing seasons (0.72PPG, previous 4 seasons 0.96PPG)
-Colorado adds youth, grit and a solid prospect who can play 2nd/3rd line center for 10+ years.
Toronto:
-Takes a gamble on Stastny with a high cap hit and average numbers the last two seasons. But he was an elite playmaking point-producer prior to that and is still young.
-Gives up a good prospect in Colborne, but with Stastny and Grabovski the Leafs are set at center for the next 5 years.

Who exactly is saying that Colborne is a surefire NHL center at all, let alone a 2nd line center for 10 years to come? If his career keeps stalling he will be out of hockey in 3 years, he is rich and has better things to do than riding bus in the AHL.
Lol, this is pathetic. And we have to add????? We finally have enough good wingers to run three scoring lines with our three centers. No need for Kulmein or Mac. McGinn on the 4th line is an utter waste.
OP put no thought into the Avs needs at all. Typical. Leafs get their center, Avs get a bunch of pieces we have no interest in. The Avs have no problem with Stastny's contract, and we are more than happy to have three good scoring lines. Huge no from Avs.
Wow that's a lot from the Leafs, although that's something it would take.
They get two very good wingers and a solid C prospect, imagine a Landeskog - O'Reilly - Kulemin line.. Defensive beasts.
Kulemin and MacArthur had 27 goals in 143 games combined last season. Pretty much a definition of not a good winger I guess... Colborne had like 10 points in last 40 season games in the AHL too. Thats really a lot from leafs for these Stastny and Hejduk scrubs.

2) Hejduk has a full No Movement Clause and doesn't want to leave the only NHL franchise he has known.

1) You're right. It sounds like Colorado is happy keeping the three centers at this time?
2) I thought about that, he was drafted by Quebec in 1994. Has seen ups, downs, and Cups. I can't see him ever wanting to move now.
the asking price on Stastny is Bozak, Komisarek, and a 4th. If you Leafs fans don't want to give up that package fine, but this is the asking price and not a penny less. We need established top-line talent coming back, not scrubs and salary dumps and mid picks.
This would not even get consideration from the Avs. Stop flattering yourself. No interested whatsoever.
