There's absolutely no need to move Heatley.

He might be good alongside Crosby.

Tyler Kennedy for Dany Heatley straight up?

Why? They have the cap space to keep him.

Minnesota should keep all their top players.

Wade Redden + Dubinsky?

All jokes aside I'm willing to offer:

Dubinsky + mid pick for Heatley? I hate Heatley but he will be a UFA within 2 seasons and he would only be a backup if we fail to get Bobby Ryan or Rick Nash.

Heatley can still score a decent amount of points so he'd be my 3rd/4th choice together with Semin.

But only for Dubinsky. We're not willing to pay alot for Heatley since we won't resign him and his past his prime.

My suggestion too. Peoria gets a bit more speed in their lineup and Heatley gets a well deserved central role in their future, one fit for a ****ing all-star. Minnesota saves a bit of money off the cap and adds more character to the lineup. Win win imo.

The Ottawa fans in this thread should be mad at Murray for hiring Cory Clouston, who he fired later on. Maybe Heatley was right.

Whenever Heatley is mentioned, you can guarantee that there will be Sens fans to say what a piece of **** he is.

Heatley is a great teammate and a great mentor for our younger guys. We like him here and have no interest in moving him.

Clouston ended up being a bust. It still doesn't excuse what Heatley did. I won't reshash the whole thing now though, and I don't think that's the way this thread should go.

You can expect it... like clockwork.

At this stage, while I still hope he never wins anything, my shots at him are more light-hearted than years past.

Paul Martin?

Minnesota's defense improves (I understand they have a lot of decent young guys, but no real, legit top-four guys ready to step in) further and Pittsburgh gets a winger that might fair well with Crosby, since they didn't get Parise. Martin is from MN and Heatley's ego would love a chance to play with Crosby and put up big numbers again.

Should we be mad? Or should we be relieved that we don't have that massive cap hit hanging over us, instead replacing it with a 4.3 million dollar player who's better?

You should be relieved. Relieved to the point where you don't have to barge into to every thread associated with Dany Heatley and disrupt it by talking smack.

Let it go. We get it. It was fine for the first year (I would've done the same thing) but at this point, it's just sad.

This. He was great in San Jose as well, but we needed to move him for the cap space. I'd say hold on to him Minnesota Sha...er, Wild, and good luck!

With the way the thread is going and this comment being so true - we are done here.
