Not if the owners have a say come fall.

Both contracts are really 10 year deals with 3 garbage years tacked on. They don't plan for them to play beyond age 37.

For gods sake can we now put Kovy back on the left wing? No reason he has to play on the right anymore.

Kovy should be Captain & should have been. Parise is a *******.

So I bet it's safe to say if Parise stayed, Suter would have signed with us as well.

Can't wait to see all the fans with their NJ Parise jerseys now, smh.

No, I would agree that Parise's offensive skills (passing, shot, etc.) are borderline 2nd/3rd liner.

Deboer isn't Bruce Boudreau. A player's coach should help Semin out. Semin over Parise would do wonders for our Power Play as well.

Boudreau is a players' coach, but the wrong kind, the kind that lets players do essentially whatever they want.

I could have sworn Boudreau hated Ovie/Semin. I thought he didn't have a system and rely too much on Backstrom, Ovi, Semin, and Green abilities.

pros:
best wrister in the game
excellent playmaking skills
creativity
good pker
good stick skills defensively
speed
under hunter, a coach that holds his players accountable, he was much more disciplined and consistent defensively.

cons:
attitude problems
streaky
bad offensive zone penalties
not very good along the boards.

in my opinion, the cons are all things we could change.

Ovechkin is no leader. He and Green are more concerned with where the party is after the game than they are with winning. Washington has been a toxic locker room for a while. I think Semin could be incredible on a line with Kovy. Probably going to take a 5 year deal though, and I don't know about that...

Well, not true about Suter. We dont have the money for that.

From what I've read, it was that if Suter had gone to Detroit, Parise would have stayed in NJ. Lou said he never made an offer to Suter and Suter said he had no intention of playing for an Eastern Conference team. Playing with Suter was the reason he left NJ, and having a team with the money to sign both be his home state sealed it.

He has no concern of whether he'll win, just about playing with a friend and making big bucks.

Lou would definitely fix those attitude problems. Streakiness is just part of the game, imo, and DeBoer's system and accountability would probably fix the bad penalties. I don't know if Semin would ever get better along the boards, though. That'd be something for his linemates to handle while he gets into position for a high quality shot, and I think I'd be okay with that.

A very honest question?

Does ANYONE think Zach Parise is worth what Minnesota signed him for?

As Devils fans that have seen every game of his career, we KNOW and have SAID during this entire FA process that he's 100% overrated. So why do we feel so bad? I admit, I will miss Zach Parise too given what a great guy he is, but there is NOBODY who is a greater judge of his value than we are, and frankly?

Yeah, the Wild substantially overpayed.

During this entire process we as fans have admitted that whoever signs Zach Parise will be overpaying, so why are we so sad?

The truth is, sometimes the best deals you make are the ones you never make. I TRULY believe this is one of those deals. The Wild overpaid, and Zach Parise might never be the same player he was "before the injury" like so many of us fear.

I think he's worth a $7.5M cap hit. I don't think he's worth the $96M over 13 years.

5 years 35 million max. The length of the deal is craziness. He is not a top 10 talent that can command a financial commitment like that.
