We need someone though. You're a smart guy man. Please don't tell me you're on the Tedenby solution?

Of course those can't replace Parise, but a better chance than someone unproven. They can replace some of it. I even remember you saying Hudler could be a good plan B. What would you have given him?

Have there been any interviews with Suter and Zach since the decision? Anything with Zach on camera?

Also with the prospects, the golden prospects.

You know how you get a solid prospect pool?
By being a ****** team for a long time.

If they're thinking Parise is the 3rd best player in the league, they really haven't seen him play much. I'm not even sure he's top 10, to be honest.

He sure did blow smoke up all our ***** the past year. Whatever, Zach. NJ has lost players better than you and bounced back.

I can't wait for his first 8-game pointless streak in Minn. and all the ******** from their fans. Shouts of bust, overpaid, too small, no slapshot, etc. etc.

Kovalchuk's contract looks better and better with each passing day.

I don't understand the purpose of those comments at all. It's not going to make people hate him any less. In fact, I'd bet that some Devils fans hate him more for trying to spin it like that. He will get a very rude welcome when he visits the Rock next season.

It was haunting the second he said it. And I've been saying that for a year now. This is still lame and I'm still booing him to kingdom come.

****ing spot on. I will make the drive out for that one. My 1 regular season game a year in Newark will be November 11.

Need to move on Need to replace but I don't thin we'll go the F/A route - the money is just stupid. Doan won;t come here, AK will be overpaid and I think Semin coms with too much baggage. Only possibility tha I might buy into might be Peter Mueller as a reclamation project.

We lack depth in our forward prospect ranks beyond the recent draft so I could see Lou leveraging his Defensive depth to acquire a young but possibly talented forward. I look to teams with depth in that area and I look to Edmonton who might be up for a D for F swap. Wouldn't a guy like Greene look good on their back end and we could pick up a prospect like a Pajaarvi? Or maybe they want younger and take Fayne and a 2nd? They're lnot only loaded up with the forwards that are currently on the team, they have some solid second tier guys as well coming up. Clearing space for and solidifying D with a vet that isn't that old could help...sooner or later, they need to make a push to make the playoffs and will need some D now if they plan to do that this year.

Love Lou and i know he has a back up plan, i have no idea what it is. But one thing i hate is he is painfully slow and painfully quiet when he does stuff. So we have no clue if he made calls or is even looking at any one of the many names that have crossed this or the other threads.

We're gonna have to replace him with somebody. And it might not be the guy you like, or the guy I like, and it probably won't even be with a player as good as him, but we gotta start somewhere. Can't throw an unproven player into the fire.

We will be fine. I still think Lou is an idiot for not forfeiting this years pick.

Try Semin out for 2 years and see what we have in the system/upcoming FA.

Tallinder has to be worth something right? Considering what D-men got at the trade deadline (I know, trade deadline and FA are completely different situations but still) earlier this year he's got to have some value, especially to teams who are desperate for D. Should be able to get something decent at least.

Do people still want to send their Parise merch to his house? I know I am.

Found the address in the NJ tax property search (public records after all).

Won't post it though, feels wrong to do so.

It happens every time a star player leaves the Devils, without fail.

No, Tedenby is not the solution, but the guys you listed certainly weren't either. I expect Henrique and Josefson to make strides in their development, and help fill the void. Zajac will be healthy, Patty is still there, the fourth should be decent all season, and Lou should be able to bring in some quality depth.

People got too high on Tedenby too quickly, but you're getting too low on him now. He's still young, and still has a chance to improve and become an NHL player. With the spot open now, he has that chance.

I know people say a lot of ******** to the media, but I really hope he means that.
Really, really hope he does.
Well it's not like they can really get a lot on defense that would help them at this point. Matt Carle's redundant for them (an offensive d-man) and most of the good defensive d-men are off the board already.

ROFL Since no one pays attention to NJ 99% of the time, they have no idea how overrated and overpaid Zach is. He has no wrist or slap shot, and only one truly impressive season point-wise. I know for a fact that we'll be able to look back on this signing and say "Told you so."

I can't bring myself to click the link and hear his voice now. Him being loyal is laughable when he admitted he was talking about this with Suter during the season! Some loyalty, already planning his escape during a season he was captaining a team.

They need to fix the signing bonus situation. Signing bonuses shouldn't be allowed to be paid out over 3 years. It's not a signing bonus at that point and is more of a bad faith deal.
