I hate how age is not age.

I think the Kings roster is pretty much set. Westy is done in LA, IMO. Sutter clearly does not have Murray's obsession with fighters, Westy is not anywhere close to a top 14 forward in LA, bye bye. The big question is, IMO, do they run with Drewiske as the #7. I think they may make Hickey their #7, rotating in him as much as they can (Martinez and Voynov might be healthies at times next year), maybe as much as 25-35 games if there are no injuries next year. Hickey is waiver eligible, I just don't think the Kings will want to risk losing him via waivers. Drewiske has done all he can, he is a decent hard working depth guy and a good teammate, but much like Peter Harrold before him, I think it is time to move on.

Per Pierre Lebrun courtesy TSN.ca

"Real_ESPNLeBrun: I mentioned this July 1, but worth repeating: if Shane Doan has to leave Phoenix (he hopes not), the Kings will be very aggressive bidders"

Will be interesting to see what happens in the desert next week if the ownership bid fails it will get mighty interesting with regards to Doan.

I just don't see where we'd fit Doan, tbh. There's no room for anyone lol, as of right now Penner is on our 3rd line? Where do we put Doan? 3rd line with Stoll and Penner? I know Gagné is going to eventually get hurt at some point but I don't know where we would fit Doan. I would've understood signing him if we didn't re-sign Penner

IMO, those Parise and Suter contracts are brutal.

A line of Brown-Richards-Doan makes my heart skip a beat.

I'd rather have one "pest" on each line...endless aggravation.

I'm not a fan of signing Doan, but this could be intriguing:

Gagne-Kopitar-Carter
Brown-Richards-Doan
Penner-Stoll-Williams
King-Fraser-Lewis

But all signs are pointing to the referendum failing and Phoenix being sold to Jamison. Doan will sign with Phoenix the same day.

also i think it would be wise if DL worked on an extension for brown next year. unless the cap drops dont want to see brown test FA

I'm sure he will. Brown will be 29 when the extension would kick-in, so 8 years is probably reasonable. Unless of course the new CBA sets a limit of 7 years or something.

So, you want to break up all 4 lines which landed us a cup?

San Jose: Have done pretty much nothing. A few lateral moves.
Anaheim: A disaster internally.
Phoenix: Marginal playoff team.
Dallas: AARP.

Yeah, at this point, Kings should be heavy favorites to take the division

Not even that. Splitting up Richards and Carter, and Brown and Kopitar, who were at there best together is just crazy. If it was switching Gagne with Williams or something along those lines I'd listen. But no way do Kopitar, Brown, Richards, and Carter get seperated after the playoffs... Zero chance.

I don't think we should sign anyone this season. Sit on our SC winning lineup, let the chips fall where they may next season, adjust at the deadline with plenty of cap space. Sign Iginla to come play under his former (favorite) coach for a shot at the Cup.

Iginla + Sutter = One Line Alone

Seriously though, Iginla would be amazing.

If we can sign Doan to a 1 yr deal, I would defintely do that given his versatility. But I doubt he accepts 1 yr. It will likely be 2-3

I agree. I have no problem going into next year with this lineup:

Brown-Kopitar-Williams
Penner-Richards-Carter
Gagne-Stoll-Lewis
King-Fraser-Nolan
Richardson, Clifford

Scuderi-Doughty
Mitchell-Voynov
Martinez-Greene
Drewiske/Hickey/Muzzin <--fight it out in camp

Quick
Bernier

The Pacific is looking to be the weakest division in the west.

NW

Vancouver - still a top tier team
Minnesota - much improved
Colorado - young talented team
Calagary - 90 pts last year but looking to fall back in the standings
Edmonton - lots of high end fowards that just need seasons - still need D

Central

St Louis - well blalnced and young
Chicago - still have most of thier Cup core , needs a goalie
Nashville - losing Suter hurts but still have Weber for 1 more year
Detroit - looks like they're going to be fighting for 8th instead of 1st
Columbus - a train wreck

Pacific

Los Angeles - same squad as won the Cup
San Jose - better than the rest
Phoenix - marginal playoff team
Anaheim - that D doesn't impress , fowards aren't deep
Dallas - too little - too late - blow it up and suffer for 2-3 years
