That would be a bad hockey move.

At this point I'm quite out on wanting Doan, especially considering the term he's said to be looking for. I just don't see the point. With the new additions we can play Morrow on the 3rd line like he should be at this point in his career and just call it a day. If he's going to get his panties in a bunch over being demoted by players with better careers and better recent seasons than him then just trade him to get him out of the locker room.

I'm not even sure Detroit is in the 2nd tier without Suter.

I don't want Doan for 3+ years. Thanks but no. Let's get rid of our poor man's version and let a couple of those kids play.

Fraser-Eakin-Vincour as a 3rd line might be interesting.

Wandell-Fiddler-Nystrom

Likely insurance for Austin in case Dillion makes the team.

Why does ESPN list him as a LW, but Nashville a D?

so from GM Joe's comments today, it sounds like Dallas is likely done for the summer now. Not a surprise perhaps, but I was really wishing they could find some way to add a major piece on the back end for the present and the future.

The guys we have under contract right now better be ready to step up.

I wonder how much of a influence Gainey had.

Bravo. I have to say it is nice to be excited about hockey again.

I question whether Gully is the right coach or if the defense is good enough but this team will be fun to watch. GMJN or Gainey or Gaglardi understood that the same product was not going to work in Dallas. They actually are rebuilding here but are using the Texas stars as the place. None is now rushed at all. Until then they brought in solid vets and they brought in someone to sell Jagr. I have to admit this was inspired and frankly I thought impossible. If this does not work, then with Morrow Jagr Lets Roy and even Whitney on short or one year deals we will be a force at the deadline.

Tremendous props to the stars to admit things had to change and a golden opportunity to recapture some of the winter sports market because Cuban screwed up the Mavs for a long time by not resigning Chandler.

Eliteprospects lists him as both... So yeah, poor man's (very poor man, practically broke man) Byfuglien I guess...

I think another trade may happen.
Gotta think Morrow on the 3rd line won't be ideal and he won't be happy about that.

Maybe you package him and Fistric/Robidas for that d-man we want and need?

The Stars have kind of turned out to be this UFA period's Florida from last year, except our existing core is better, the players we brought in are better, and we have an actual goalie. Now if only the Pacific could suck as bad as the Southeast we'd be in business.

Ya'll think now that Nieuwy is off to the lake for a week that we're done? Honestly, I still think we need a solid D and will be in much better shape going into the season. And TBH, I'd like to see us keep Morrow and give him one more chance. I'm sure he knows he could be next so he's gonna wanna step it up with the new Stars team. Maybe this is what he needed, a wake up call.

I have been wondering the same thing. Will the change of the guard jolt him into beast mode? Does Management need to go a step further and strip his captaincy as well?

So who gets traded first if Morrow does end up returning to form? Still him, even though we need the grit and he might outproduce someone?

For D help, obviously.

If Morrow returns to form you don't get rid of anyone you roll three scoring lines that also aren't defensive liabilities. I know it's optimistic of me but I really do think the subtraction of Souray and addition of Dillon could be lead to a sizable net difference where our D-corps is concerned. Nemeth is so close as well, he just needs to be given a chance in Austin to show he's the he-man we all think he can be. I would be shocked if both don't finish the season in Dallas.

I think the D-corps largely fixes itself this year as long as legitimate chances and responsibility are given to young players.

If Doan really is only looking at a place nearby, I wonder what he'll do.

LA is pretty much a guaranteed no. He might be over those grudges, but I'd be stunned if Brown and Doan end up in the same LR together.
Colorado doesn't seem like a good fit for either side, but who knows.
We're not singing him unless he's fine with a short term and 3rd line minutes.
Anaheim again doesn't seem like the right place, but I don't know much about that. If they do trade Ryan I could see it.
San Jose needs a top 6 winger, and it's fairly close. I think they're the favorites behind Phoenix at this point.

Semin is all but a lock for Detroit IMO. Id laugh of he doesn't though, as Detroit is really screwed for next season then.

Anyone have any idea where Carle's going?

On #DallasStars: source says as of RIGHT NOW they are the team with the highest $$$ offer ON THE TABLE for Doan. Hearing 5.75M/2years.
Take it for what it's worth ... obviously it isn't a reliable source but it's out there on twitter. Do you guys think we're still going after Doan?

About that fake account. He's full of **** in everything he says.
http://blogs.edmontonjournal.com/201...needs-to-know/

I do think we'll go after him, but I don't think we're going to sign him to a 5 year deal. Connections be damned, he doesn't fit the plan.

If it is exclusively pacific division teams after him I would much rather the Stars sign him. I imagine that signing means trading somebody rather than having multiple big money players on the 3rd line.

If he only chooses Pacific team, sign him simply so no one else does.

How the **** would he fit in, though? 3rd line...? Not sure about that one.

Eriksson - Benn - Jagr
Whitney - Roy - Ryder
Morrow - Eakin - Doan
Sceviour - Fiddler - Vincour

My god that's awesome. Maybe switch him and Ryder or something and roll 3 scoring lines with a gritty presence on each.

It makes a ton of sense if Morrow isn't even a top 9 player anymore though.

5.75 for 2 years sounds fair. A bit pricey, but who cares?

Does anyone think that Doan will sign with Dallas to play on the 3rd line? There's no way he'll go for that. Anaheim seems the most likely and the team that needs him the most. I think when they signed Jagr that basically eliminated Doan coming here.
