He had the opportunity to repay the organization that traded up to draft him; the organization that made him the Captain; the organization that hired a coach and system tailored to his playing style; the prganization that has missed the playoffs just three times in 20 years and has 3 Cups and 5 Finals appearances during that time; the organization that he has spent the last 9 years with in a place that he has called home during that entire time.

I appreciate what he brought to the team during his time here; but I don't owe him any more thanks than he has shown to us during this process.
Perfectly said.

The sad thing is, the Wild thinks he IS a player you build a team around. I can't wait to "go in peace" to the Wild boards next May and ask how things are working out for them.

You're spot on here. This is what has the majority of us upset.
If dragging this entire process on was just about getting his bff Suter on board, there was no need to talk about the Devils as a priority, or in the mix, or best of all loyalty.

Why bother? So he doesn't join the likes of Gomez and Martin around these parts? Oh well.

Was he a great player whose skills are to be admired? Sure, of course.
Other than that, he's done nothing to earn the respect or well wishes from us a fanbase.

zach went home and he has every right to do so. i respect zach parise and could never hate the guy. i really feel that if he had not gone to minnesota he would have came back. dude went back to where he is from and was offered a ton of money and gets to play with a great player and friend in ryan suter. i never expected him to resign in the first place so maybe that's why im not taking it as hard as some of you are, i'm just happy he didnt go to the rangers, flyers or penguins. so i'm not gonna start hating on him now.

Zach decided first though...according to the teleconf. he decided late last night and Suter didn't decide till this morning...doesn't make sense if Zach was waiting for Suter.

They basically signed at the same time. It was a matter which paperwork the team sent in first.

But I believe he was dragging his feet to fully get his "friend" on board

for sure

And "signing" is different than "deciding." Zach said he "decided" late last night.

Either way, it still doesn't change the fact that MN was the only place he was going to if he didn't stay...I think Suter going there just made Zach more confident he could win there.

Well said, there is no reason to be mad at Zach. There are too many people here acting like Zach was required to stay here.

He made a decision that many killing him would have made if they were in his shoes.

I'm disappointed, but I'll accept it and move on.

Eh, I'm not up in arms about Parise leaving. He was a UFA and it's his right to go out on the market and see which teams he likes. It's not like he was an RFA holdout or requested a trade.

And this isn't even like Scott Gomez where he made up his mind and signed with the Devils' arch rival, the Rangers on July 1st for $$$. Parise definitely thought this through and I don't think it was an easy decision.

It is what it is in the end of it. This team has lost numerous important players to free agency and retirement. Some (like Niedermayer and Stevens) had more value than Zach to be honest. The Devils have always adapted and I'm sure they'll adapt and move on without Zach.

I share a birthday with Paul Martin. I got over it.

Honestly, the kid is going home to his family, friends , wife , and to play with a childhood buddy. I would be sick and would be looking to slash his tires if it was Pitt, phi thy or rags, but I cannot fault him for going home.

Best of luck Zach.
