If you want to create space for the off point, it most certainly does. A booming shot forces an enemy pker to cover that shooting lane, opening the middle.

It allows Del Z and Richards more room for lateral passes. Stralman isn't going to do that. Even in his 34 pt season, he only had 6 goals. The guy isn't a great shooter. Its just that he is willing to shoot.

Juicy, juicy! Our rivals are definitely getting worse thus far.
As long as they don't get Ryan or Nash.

Im not suggesting we ship out the assets to get either one, but hopefully no other Atlantic team gets them, either.

I like that Pittsburgh, Philly, and NJ are losing assets, though.

His point game is what is holding him back.
oh i was talking even strength not on the pp

Long shot?

Its much less of a long shot than the Rangers allowing a youth exodus for Nash or Ryan.
Yes, long shot. His agent is doing his due dilligence that's it

Rangers need a booming shot it's exactly why we don't scare anyone with the man advantage and why they play us so aggressively.

Wonder if the Flyers go all out for Shea Weber? I mean they supposedly offered Suter and Parise big contracts. That is if Weber is available.

Defenders are going to cover shooting lanes no matter who it is.

That's not the reason the power play was ineffective.

And if they're not getting to the middle, its not because theres no "booming" shot. Its because they refuse to go to the middle. They're stationary and without urgency on the power play. That's the issue.

Why should they be scared? It takes us the whole 2 min to fire a shot

It would appear that next year is a yes although management is still being cautious. They have started filling and upgrading some key positions in the organization. If the referendum peters out, it would appear they are here for good, or at least until someone wants to pay the nine figure out clause in the new lease.

The three guys having the worst summer right now are Holmgren, Holland and Portzline.

If Shea Weber is available, Sather would pay the price and empty the cupboard. We're talking about a 30 minute a game shutdown defenseman, right handed and the mastermind of the best power play in the league. 2nd in Norris (I believe) last two years. Suetr and Weber have been a great combination but make no mistake, Weber is the star attraction. After losing Suter and Hamhuis, if Nashville can't be sure they are keeping Weber, he will be traded this summer.

we could maybe not allow the other team in our zone with webber. Best d in the nhl by far. Not worth what it would cost

You put a significant shot on the PP. Your going to have a defender playing man to man with the shooter. That is going to open up space in the middle and room for the off point. The more room he has, the more he can shift safely.

You can't run a shooting PP, without a substantial shot from the point. Hell you can't run an Umbrella effectively either.

The Rangers can try with the overload, but our forwards are terrible at moving the puck.

Semin would give us this too as well as goals which we need. Don't think we are high on him though

Sry, i haven't read through the entire thread.. but so far, it seems as though the Devils and Philly got weaker, while the Isles and Penguins may have gotten a bit stronger..? What does everyone think? I think we can challenge Pens for 1st this year... but we will probably end up 4th or 5th in the conference...
