Paul Byron: One year two way contract with an AAV of $585,000 / $105,000.
Akim Aliu: One-year two way contract with an AAV of $695,000 / $105,000.

As stated before, Backlunds' agent has said that the #Flames have yet to begin contract talks. That was yesterday, will update later today.
Wonder what the hell is going on with Backlund though.
I think Backlund is heading out of town with a blueliner for a center. The lack of talk from the front office about him is deafening.
This is a breath of life for Aliu but probably the end of the line for Byron. Aliu gets a contract that will give him another life with a NHL club. Good for him. Bad news for Byron though. If the Flames were serious about Byron they would have given him a longer term. This is a put-up-or-shut-up year for him and based on the current makeup of the lineup it just doesn't look like he'll get much of a chance for a call up. We're awfully small and need some more beef on the wings.
I've been thinking for a long time that it's Berglund. I also have a feeling NJ will also be in on JBo. But I called the Cammy/Bourque deal 3 months before it happened. I just feel its happening. I also think u see Aliu in the flames line up opening night

That's my gut feeling as well. With all the talk of Bouwmeester to St. Louis, we really only have one option for a top six center coming back, since we don't want McDonald, and Backes isn't moving. I don't see NJ in the mix at all though, with financial issues and lack of centers to trade.
My only concern is that adding Berglund only makes our top six softer. I do like him as a player though.
Would be awesome if it was something like:
To STL:
Bouwmeester
Backlund
To Calgary:
Berglund
Rattie
Cole
Add or subtract as see fit to make it work.
The other option that comes to mind is Giordano for Krecji, with some tweaking for balance.

A million tears of joy if this happens. "Rebuild" over.

We would be lucky to get Berglund and cole let alone add in Rattie.
It would have to be like
To St. Louis:
Boumeester
Backlund
3rd round pick

Berglund
Cole
And I don't even know if that gets St. Louis thinking

Depends on how they rate Bouwmeester. I'm perfectly okay with trading him, I am NOT okay with trading him away for scraps. He has more value than a lot of fans on this board give him imo.

Rebuild would be just beginning. Make that move and you might as well move Kipper and Iggy when opportunity arises and really stock up. I think that would be the best thing possible for the franchise and for the fans. Of course the fans would have to develop some patience and not run our players out of town when they develop slowly or slower than expected. You're likely to see a lot more Backlunds than you are Iginlas as players develop.
I don't know how we got onto trading Jbo in this thread but I am excited both Byron and Aliu are back both are a shot at the Flames lineup this year imo, I am excited to see what they bring.
Jbo and Backlund may land Berglund, and I say "may". And if that was offered we take that deal and run.
Berglund has tremendous upside and is in no way soft. A deal I see as much more plausible is Bouwmeester and Backlund for Schwartz and Cole. I'd actually prefer this deal as we would get a good young dman back.
Also congrats to Aliu to Byron, hopefully they make they most of their opportunities when they are called up in light of injuries. I was hoping one of these guys would get a chance at a roster spot, but I think Feaster had to sign other vet players to sell to Iginla that we are going to be competitive.

Have to disagree. Gotta get that guy that can be our #1 c. Hopefully flames could add for Cole on the Berglund deal... Schwartz is an amazing talent, but I want that thing that's plagued this organization for almost two decades.
