So I'm looking at this like the Lindros sit where Malkin is Lindros and CBJ is QUE so If I had a choice of what I wanted from CBJ it would be NASH+Murray+J.Johnson+Johansen but I'm sure there are many posters that know Pits better than i do sooo what 3 other pieces would you want with Nash?

So their franchise player, their 2nd overall pick, their centerpiece from the carter trade, and a former 4th overall. Lol why would CLS mutilate their team?

Yes, this makes a lot of sense for CBJ.

Not a snowball's chance in hell, from either team.

The Pens aren't dealing the reigning Hart, Art Ross, and Pearson winner for anything, and the Jackets aren't gutting their franchise for a player who would leave them outright in 2 years.

I'd like to hear from a Pens fan that wouldn't immediately say "no way we're trading Malkin." I wouldn't want to include JMFJ.

sorry to disappoint, but I'm trying to flip the whole Nash trade mould, its always been Nash for a lesser player and prospects why not Nash+ or +++ for a better player.

Essentially every proposal for Crosby/Malkin/Ovechkin/Datsyuk/Stamkos/etc boils down to this...Pittsburgh would require an extreme overpayment to move one of the best players in the league and Columbus can't afford that kind of overpayment without gutting their future and erasing any progress from the last several years.

I can't imagine Shero would even field offers for Malkin now that Staal is gone, and I can't imagine the CBJ gutting their team and future entirely (which is what it would take) for Geno.

No from both.

Any team getting a top player has to "gut" their prospects. I'm using the Lindros as a precedent

Highly unlikely the Pens trade Malkin, but there are a few scenarios it is possible. Crosby just signed at a discount long-term. It's possible Malkin my not be willing to do the same, and the Pens couldn't pay him more than Crosby. Under this scenario, it is conceivable that he gets dealt before his contract is up.

Is this in the imaginary rule book?

You could add the entire Columbus farm system with Nash, and NOT A CHANCE.

How would that change anything? The last time the Jackets traded for a guy on a super long-term deal, he got dealt within the year anyway.

Malkin wouldn't be happy starting over in Columbus, and the Pens would never choose to become the first team to ever trade a reigning Hart winner.

This is very bad. I mean you can trade Nash with every single other player on the CBJ roster and all their prospects and Pittsburgh would still say no.
