Wow, everyone in the Atlantic has taken a big loss or lost out on a big time player they coveted in free agency.

Still early but for 4 top teams and a young one on the rise, this has been a tough summer so far...

the Flyers left both Carle and Jagr walk.

I don't see a problem.

Rangers are in the best shape thus far IMO in regards to free agent losses and signings. Definitely made the right move in not paying Prust. He was very overpaid by Montreal. With the same money that Prust is getting the Rangers were able to sign Asham and Haley, and both of whom can fill the same role pretty well.

this. Flyers will be better this year without Jagr and Carle. both were horrible down the stretch last year. good riddance.

The Flyers are quite pleased to not have either of those contracts.

the Pens lost Sullivan and Asham so far. hardly gonna hurt them. they already replaced Asham with Glass. i really liked Asham but he wasnt a staple.

they just have to replace the role Sullivan was supposed to fill, which id like to see done by either Doan or maybe even Semin with a huge discount and/or attitude adjustment

They really are terrible contracts and Philly is better off without Carle for sure, but since Jagr was only a 1 year deal, ehhh you could argue they should have kept him, even at the slightly steep price. It's not that bad to overpay when it's only a 1 year deal.

Yet we've added/re-upped plenty of goons. Haley, MacIntyre, Asham, Glass, Boulton, Carkner, Newbury, Janssen, and Bickel all entering/remaining in the Atlantic.

Parise would've been nice, but now he's out of the Atlantic and the East, so that's fine.

Don't worry, we'll still be the only teams on TV.

people forget he was on his way out anyway. turning down that contract showed the writing that was on the wall. the Pens are lucky to have even gotten a solid return for him.

besides, Staal is young and still has untapped offensive potential, but don't be surprised if he never breaks 75 points. hes an amazing talent, but $6M over 10 years can prove to be steep for a barely 50 point player (as it stands right now)

The pens, flyers, and devils all got worse so far this off season. I still think it is the strongest division though.. Just they will be more top heavy as the Devils fall off, but the Islanders climb a bit.

I am shocked that this division was offering big money for these guys and they could not land any of them (so far)... Slim pickings now, but there is still work to be done...

No, New Jersey and Nashville did. Can't count your chickens before they've hatched, your roster isn't worse for not getting them, it's just not any better. Otherwise, Detroit, Philidelphia and probably 24 other teams "lost" them.
