Just a simple idea here. With the signing of McClement it made me think if we are going to try and roll a pure shutdown line. If we are I thought about if we could swing a deal with GMJN around Brendan Morrow. From what I have gotten some Dallas fans would be okay with trading him and assuming he would waive his NTC would it be possible to swing something like...

TOR

Morrow

DAL

MacArthur
2nd 2013 Or B prospect

If it could be done roll lines like the following...

Lupul - Bozack/Tiny Tim - Kessel
VanRiemsdyk - Grabovski - Kadri/Frattin
Morrow - McClement - Kulemin
Brown- Steckel - Lombardi

Still have a gaping hole at Center but we get bigger on the wings.

Taylor Pyatt would be a welcome addition on the left side for the bottom six. Big physical player that can throw some hits and can score some points.

Brian Burke would do well in signing him during the free agency.

Or Jordan Staal. Have him or Grabovski as our #1C.

Would love to get Steve Ott from Dallas on our squad.. a very Carlyle-type of player.

Alot of the players that I wanted the leafs to get are already gone,
But the leafs would benefit from signing the following two players

Tomas Holmstrom - Although he is old, the leafs would benefit by having someone not afraid to stand in front of the net on the PP.

Krys Barch - All of the other NE Division teams have gotten tougher and the leafs have yet to resign Rosehill. I think that Barch would be a better replacement.

Burke lost out on Ott to Sabres who outnegotiated him by dealing Roy.
Burke was trying to trade one of his centres - Connolly or Lombardi.

Many of these GMs are outdealing and implementing the Burke plan more quickly than Burke can. Even the habs added grit/truculence during UFA.

It's easier to add players that have grit for the bottom six. The trick is finding the right player for this role at a reasonable cap hit. Ott has a pretty high cap hit for what he brings, almost close to what Colby Armstrong was making. I wouldn't worry too much about losing Ott as there are cheaper players out there to fill this role. They may not be as good, but they will still get the job done most nights.

Burke just needs to focus on getting that number one center and goaltender to help the team move forward.

I think Homer is done, brother.

Maybe Biggs develops the skill-set of possessing iron calf muscles?

Who do I want? Crosby, Malkin, Staal bros, Stamkos, Weber and mostly Team Canada. What I'd realistically like to get is Stastny and Backstrom.

Tim Connelly & Jerry D'Amigo for Ryan Clowe
Kulemin for Wayne Simmonds
McArthur for Chris Neil
