I would make that deal not sure PHX would and I would be hesitant to add much more.

Maybe not this year but both Elliott and Halak have 2 years left on their contracts.

Then it's UFA for both.

The Blues will have to move one of them within the next 18 months.

My bet is on Halak staying. We will have Allen ready when their contracts are up, so we can still have a great tandem regardless.

More than likely it will be Elliott, not Halak.

Backes, Halak/Elliott, Tarasenko, Petro, Shatty and Berglund are basically untouchable across the board for most, if not all Blues fans
Just FYI

I'm a Toronto fan.

I'd pay more for Halak if by some miracle he were to be available.

Elliott needs to have another solid season for his value to continue to rise.

Agreed, but if he doesn't, then we'll just keep Halak and either have Allen come up or sign a stopgap back up.

I would like Oshie added to this list. I cringe every time I see him in a proposal.

You may like to, but I don't think he's on Armstrong's untouchable list. The only reason Berglund is on there is because he is a big center, something we don't have more of. Oshie being a playmaking/defensive winger is a surplus with us. He is also RFA and we aren't sure how talks are going. I think there is a real chance he could be moved in the right deal.

Exactly.

I'm not saying I'm expecting him (or anyone for that matter. Team was 2 points away from the Presidents Trophy) to be traded, but I wouldn't be stunned if Oshie was dealt for the right player.

Time to get Yandle. Just to see the reaction of Detroit fans would be enough lol.

Tarasenko is my favorite Blues prospect ever, but Tarasenko for Yandle would be intriguing. I would probably say no though.

As Maloney stated "the Russian Factor" would make it hard to consider him in a trade with the Coyotes.

I hate doing these, and I'd hate to lose him, but how about a simple swap of Gormley for Schwartz? Promising prospect for promising prospect.

Something we have considered as well. Simple enough to work, and I think both sides would take some thinking because both are so promising. Like it is for you guys, it would be tough to move Schwartz, but Gormley would be a great fit.

I think if Armstrong wanted to do something like this, we wouldn't have drafted Schmaltz though.

Based off what I heard Hitchcock say it sounds like they would like to add a top 6 dman. I heard some rumours about them kicking tires on Jay Bouwmeester.

Also, I don't think Tarasenko would be all too happy signing with the Blues then being traded.

This isn't a bad proposal, but I think it's the kind that won't happen. First, the Blues need an established guy who can play top minutes. Second, ahead of Schwartz, all of McDonald, Steen, and Perron have missed significant time with concussions. Healthy, they're very deep on left wing, but in a year, when McDonald's contract is up, if just one of Steen or Perron faces more injury problems, Schwartz is suddenly one of their top two left wings. It's even more severe if Steen ends up centering their third line.

I think they're content to explore trades and see how Cole does with expanded duty. If Gormley wouldn't secure a top-4 spot this year (and he wouldn't), there's no reason for the Blues to make the trade.

Agreed. It'd take some balls to pull the trigger but It's something I would take a long hard look at. Gormley is my favorite phx prospect, but Schwartz is one of my most coveted forward prospects league wide. He fits, and at a position where we are shallow.

Considering the only question with Tarasenko was if he was going to come over to North America. Now that he is for sure coming to North America forget any chance of him being dealt.
