Got to remember... Dagger didn't get invited to the Canada-Russia challenge for no reason.. We were bad last season. He isn't as bad as his numbers indicate.

Cornel comes with a high pedigree, so you put him in the top 9 and get him ice time. The others? You absolutely can not assume they will be good enough to be top 9 forwards.

Betzold has never played at a level near this, and was undrafted for two years, hes a project. Maguire will be 16 and bring a good honest effort, but needs to adjust to the pace of the game. I have no idea what Tanus will be, but so many Imports disapear as quickly as they come in, so until he proves it, hes a wildcard that you can't count on.

Imagine if they did play both Tanus and Betzold on the third line and both struggled mightily, Dave would get lit up by fans for not bringing in more depth.

Can't have it both ways.
again well said and points exactly. Thompson, Mathers and Peirog have all played and deserve to at least start in the top 9 and let the others adjust to more ice time

Mathers?! No way... He's useless on the ice other then with his gloves off.

And while I agree with Tigers, Nosad and Ritchie were given good icetime right off the hop last season and exceled in my opinion atleast almost right away... But yes were deeper this year, Tanus will be top 6 cause nobody will leave their home country to be a fourth liner.

How do you know?

Hes played half a year in Georgetown, where he was not even the starter. I rarely saw him play, not sure how others could have.

Careful abut overhyping the kid. He has not proven anything yet. Has good potentail, but so have so many other goaltenders. Let his play on the ice dictate his future, not hype.

Why? What does his draft year have to to with the Petes? He needs to earn his job, not be handed it beause he needs to be 'showcased'. I've never seen a team give a job to a kid because its his draft year. Be it a 1st round OHL pick, or a kid picked in the 1st round of the NHL draft. Every 17 year old needs or earn his spot.

Hes 17, not many 17 year olds have the ability to start at that age. Those who do, like Matt Murray, struggle. To much to put on a kid who only played 30 games in the OJHL, and has never taken the ice on the OHL.

I've watch Giggy play a fair bit and have watched him play in the OJHL and would have to say he's a solid goalie. But I would agree that it's a bit of stretch to see him as a starting goalie as a 17 year old. Having watched him for many years I would have to say I know what area he's had issues with but I believe maturity and experience would (and have to a degree already) help him.

Ive been going back pages on this Petes board looking for a post but dont see one about the question Im about to ask, I hope a Petes fan can reply.

My question is why have so many star players want out of Peterborough, the latest Puempel??? The Petes used to be such a solid franchise.

Any thoughts???

Can't surround them with talent. They want to win.

it has alot too do with not getting the perks you get in kitchener ottawa windsor london as well they think because there top players they deserve certain financial perks that the petes cant afford.

So Reid was quoted as saying he wants one more top 6 forward brought in and he tried to do just that before the 5 pm trade deadline....
http://youtu.be/JUgbng_tem4?a

Who do you guys think it is? Some educated guesses on the Petes board are.. A) Beyers or B) B.Ritchie... Anybody else got an idea?

I've heard this too!

Maybe Marty could be talked into taking a 95 or 94 instead of the 3rd 2nd.

Playoff profits go straight too the team, unfortunately we haven't had that lately! No doubt there struggling but I think they will be fine... Look at the Majors or Battalion.. No Fans.

Fair enough. The Petes just need to win games... The Ptbo Lakers win and its always soldout or close atleast there..

Reduce ticket prices + better on ice product and this franchise will make a turn for the better

This was posted on the Petes board..

Anthony Stefano ended up getting an invite to U17 camp. Which takes the total to 5 draft picks from this year, Cornel, Maguire, Racine, Stefano and Nigro. For the 2nd year in a row, the Petes have the most players representing one team, tied with a few others.

Good for Stefano, really liked the kid in rookie camp. Hope we can get him signed!

Or Hietkamp or someone like Hennigar who I thought would have a shot this year.

Mathers SHOULD be the 13th forward.

Hennigar's arm was still in a sling two weeks ago.
