He's not a practicualrly fast or great skater, not overly physical.
He is a very heady player with a nice wrist shot and is a good passer. I don't see him growing into much more.
You take one look at McD or Kreider play and you can envison them becomeing even better in next 2 years.

I might be crazy, but I think the Nash deal gets done and Stepan is the centerpiece.
Mayre this allows Howson to save face (I got stepan away even though Sather had refused to give him up).
Can't give up both Dubi and Stepan--Dubi is needed for the cap hit and Stepan is our 2nd line center.

If both are traded who steps in at 2nd line center--AA.

I think there's more to it and that's why Sather doesn't want to trade Stepan.

Is Miller a better scoring center prospect? Maybe we'd rather deal Stepan and keep Miller?
Most likely because Miller's not ready(yet)--and I'm sure Columbus would want the kid from Ohio.

Yep, 2 seasons in the NHL and he's already topped out.

Interesting question, but my concern is who would we replace Miller with next year when everyone is tired of him?

Well if I got overpaid for doing my same job in Montreal living with my model GF, I'd do the exact same.

Attaboy Pruster.

From a hockey player standpoint, I'd rather play in Montreal no question. Such an intense fanbase and rich history that gets you pumped as a player. Even though I'm a Ranger fan, I completely understand why some players fall in love with the city.

Rangers probably were not gonna offer 2.5M per, probably closer to 1.5M per. Honestly what would all of us here do with an extra 1 million dollars per year? He did the right thing for himself financially, professionally is another story. He's the enemy now.

1.8M to 2.5M is a huge increase over 4 years. 2.8M extra over that period is a big difference, particularly for a 4th line player who has a short shelf life. Prust got himself a great deal...I wish him good luck (against everyone but us.)

Why is it BS? And how do you know who he is or isn't willing to give up? Heck, none of us know. Do you really think everything blogged about or put in print is the whole truth? If I were Sather I wouldn't offer much for a 7.8M disgruntled forward who isn't among the top 25 in the league in scoring. Let Columbus keep Nash. I'd rather use our assets and cap space elsewhere.

yeah....not to mention i think the past couple years he has had some sort of injury that he played through, now i know he has played through it, but A) you are not as effective with an injury and B) sooner or later youll get an injury you cant play through....i'll miss prust and thought he'd be back, but good for him getting that amount of money and i understand sather letting him go

Property tax and everything is the highest in Montreal/Quebec then anywhere in North America. But he still would get a couple hundred thousand more. I just feel it wasn't even the money, I just don't think he wanted to be here. Ive gotten the vibe he only wanted to play in Canada since the Rangers got him, and when he became a UFA he went to Montreal the first chance he got.

Isn't the tax rate in Quebec something over 50%?

I think NY is somewhere in the low 40s.

Still works out to more money but I don't think it's too much more.

Do you have any idea how much RE taxes run in NYC? They are astronomical. A 2,500 square foot condo can run upwards of 1M/year! I have no idea how much Montreal/Quebec costs to live in...but I would be shocked if it were significantly higher than NYC.

No progress on Nash trade front. Tons of interest. No urgency to make a move. If something doesn't give, hard to imagine this ends well.
