Devils probably don't need to worry too much about that area, with Zajac, Kovy, Elias, Zubrus, Josefson, and Henrique. But Dominic Moore would fit the bill.
I am just thinking about trying to replace some of what Parise brought to the team. You're not going to get all that from one player obviously.
If the Devils grabbed Semin and Moore, I would be thrilled.
Semin's defense is very underrated. He's good on the PK and has a good stick.
Being good on the PK isn't the same as backchecking consistently or playing proper positional defence, neither of which he does. He does float more than is acceptable for a Devil.
The funniest thing was watching a Capitals game once when his line was pinned in the defensive zone and both Ovechkin and Semin were floating at the same time.

Moore is a UFA again? I didn't know that. He's the new Mike Sillinger, we should sign him just to give him a new team to add to his total.
Zajac, Zubrus, Elias (yeah he's played a lot of center),Josefson, Henrique, Carter, Gionta..... soooo.....
If we move Henrique to RW, Zajac and Josefson are the only 2 on that list that can win a faceoff. Any of them get injured and we are back to 40% faceoff success.
Moore still isn't a bad option, because he gives us the opportunity to move a guy like Henrique or Elias to the wing. He's also a good faceoff man, something we struggled with last season.
I'd rather throw Tallinder into a Gionta deal, if possible.
Same.
I did mention this in the other thread - Looking like Hemsky/Gionta are the two players that make the most sense on our end. Nashville has a lot of interesting pieces also, but I don't think they would be looking to part with them for a player of Tallinder's caliber.
I really do think we will be entering the season following a very lackluster offseason, with the more meaty moves being made at the deadline. If we can remain relevant until then, there will be a new list of names to kick around.
Devils and Edmonton seem like good trading partners. Edmonton needs reliable, middle-pairing defensemen, which we are flush with, and have an abundance of skill up front, which we now need.
I'd love to see something around Hemsky. I like MSP a lot too, and his stock might be down.
I'd love for this deal to happen.

If we are getting some kind of depth guy, I'd rather get Wellwood. I doubt that he'd cost THAT much more than Moore.
Eric wellwood almost had 50p last season. Isn't he a UFA?
Kyle Wellwood.
And he's one of the more underrated players in the NHL. Devils could definitely use Wellwood's faceoff prowess and creativity on the PP. Guys a positive possession player too.
Would be in total support of Wellwood on our third line and 2nd PP unit.
The "Kyle Wellwood is fat" jokes are hilarious, if unfair to him. Having him on the same team as Marty would be great. Not content with being the oldest team in the league, we also want to be the fattest. Let's go get Byfuglien next.

Yeah. It's funny how that has stuck with him though. Wellwood has totally proven that he's a very productive NHLer over the last several seasons but those shirtless pics from four seasons ago still cause many people to crap on him.
Wellwood or Moore would both be fine by me, if Lou thinks we need more centre depth. Both are capable of a third line role, and we can then shift Elias and Henrique to the wing, and bump Josefson up to a second line role.
