His PP points will probably go up. ES? Don't really think so.

In a new article Heika says Jagr is a right shot. Guess he's never played NHL 94 before. Hurts to miss that one.

60 assists on the very high end having an insane season.

I expect/am hoping for a 20G 40A type season, but would not be surprised if it is higher assuming he plays with Benn/Eriksson and on the 1st PP unit all year long.

Eriksson - 26G, 43A, 69P
Benn - 41G, 45A, 86P
Jagr - 19G, 39A, 58P
Whitney - 16G, 51A, 67P
Roy - 31G, 35A, 66P
Ryder - 37G, 22A, 59P

What I could see. Probably on the high end for some, but meh, I'm very optimistic.

Ryder probably will regress, especially is he's not playing with Benn. Just to be expected.

I'd eat my hat if Roy broke 30 goals. I expect 20-40 if he's going to hit 60 points.

All those numbers really depend on our PP being good. Which it should be with such skilled players now.

Jagr will not be worse than third in the team scoring ranking unless he misses half of the season because of injuries.

Just a bit.

I've got no problem with what you predicted (optimism is nice!), except that you bet on Loui Eriksson to have smaller point totals. He's the most consistent player on the team, and good for 70+ points. I'm curious why you thought this year to be a one where his production drops, if even only slightly.

That's perfectly fine. We can dress a forward prospect each game and let him take normal 4th line minutes plus a handful of Jagr's ES shifts (when the game situation allows).

This gives the prospect more minutes than they'd get playing 4th line only, let's them have some quality top line time without all of the pressure, and also let's Jagr save himself for the PP and bigger moments in the game.

I love Jagr totally destroying Heika's recommendations in the conference call today

I agree with you 100%. I just hope Gully can resist the temptation to ride Jagr and Whitney into the ground.

I don't really know why.

Okay, more realistic:

Eriksson - 24G, 48A, 72P
Benn - 38G, 35A, 73P
Jagr - 15G, 38A, 53P
Whitney - 13G, 39A, 52P
Roy - 27G, 28A, 55P
Ryder - 29G, 24A, 53P

Better?

So how does everybody feel about this?

http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2...nt-interested/

Quote:
“I always wanted to play in Canada and I wanted to go to Montreal if I had a chance, but Montreal wasn’t interested. All of a sudden I got a phone call form Joe Nieuwendyk that Dallas was interested.

“After the season — even during the season — I thought I would re-sign in Philadelphia, but I guess they wanted to go in a different direction. They were waiting for Parise and Suter, and probably I would have to wait until right now to try to negotiate a new deal with the Flyers and I didn’t want to wait.”
Sloppy seconds?

There are far worse things than being Jagr's sloppy seconds. Try being NJ with Kris Barch as your forward signing instead of keeping Parise.

I'm cool with him saying that. Hopefully he'll still bring his A-game to the Stars and contribute like we all know he can.

I usually appreciate that, but I don't see what purpose his statement served. Still, I definitely expect him to bring his A-game and for the Stars to have an exciting team capable of making the playoffs (although it's never easy).

I have the feeling that, luckily, Stars' fans are a little more tolerant of such things. If he said that a couple days after signing with a team in the northeast, I doubt it would go over too well and one would think he'd understand that.

If you listen to the interview in question, he was asked "how the negotiations came about." It wasn't like he came out on his own and mentioned how the Stars weren't his first choice in a vacuum. I'd agree it'd be a little worrisome if he brought it up on his own. But based on the context of the conference call, it was fine.

just thought I'd add Whitney and Jagr is almost a sure thing on the same line. Jagr prefers playing with a people who are right shots...

Whitney-Benn-Jagr will be a pretty sick line, so jealous the Stars signed Whitney and Jagr.
