Good for Renney. Deserves a fresh start in a winning organization.

Oilers resigned Dub.

Check the tweet someone posted for some laughs:

@ Schneider money I think Dubnyk's a good signing for the Oilers. He's a good goalie who's still got room (and the age) to grow.

That's per year for two years, btw. Laughable contract, head over the Oilers board to watch them bend over backwards trying to justify it

Well, Tambellini's making progress, it's just kind of slow. First Khabibulin's deal, now this one. Maybe $3.25m for Nabokov next year, $3m for Mathieu Garon after that...eventually he'll work his way down to paying market value.

My first thought.

Could possibly be the start of the end of a glorious two decades in Detroit.

Figures, by that time they'll be in the east.

With Detroit needing a D-man big time, I could see them trading with the Flames for Bouwmeester. They have the space to do it. Apparently Calgary is looking to move him too.

Is anyone else as confused as I am as why the Leafs are putting a guy with 10 career faceoffs in 3 seasons, JVR, at centre next year? Huh? I'm confused.

I dunno, Bozak is a decent 3rd line centre, Grabovski is a solid 2nd line centre, Connolly is well useless. To expect JVR to come in & be a top line centre? Thats asking an awful lot.

Well that will just make it official. Bouwmeester is the kiss of death. He's never won anything at any level. Trade his cursed ass to Detroit? Bring it on.

I read the first few pages, priceless. They start out guessing a very reasonable 2-2.5 million/year, then they get the numbers. Suddenly it slowly turns into "well Dubnyk=Schneider so good deal".

I serious don't know how Dubnyk can be compared to Schneider or Rask.
I have seen all 3 play, and really, Dubnyk has about half a season of good work...
Especially the last half of last season...
In all the years he is in Edmonton.
Even with that, if you watch the games, he clearly is nowhere as good as Rask and Schneider.

Of course, we might be seeing the maturation of Dubnyk, and he is finally figuring things out.
Still could they not sign him to something more like a Harding deal?
If Edmonton has no luck, they have absolutely nothing.

Because they're absolutely desperate for a top tier centre with size. Hard to trade for. I think it's worth a shot really.

He's never made the playoffs before in his career, yet Detroit hasn't missed them in 20 years or something. Something's got to give!

I still remember when he was here he tried to ban booze on team flights when Esa Tikkanen was on the team. Yeah, good luck with that, Tom.
