Elliot is more than just a throw in, keep him out the trade if Stastny is the main piece.

We don't really have any of those goalscoring wingers haha, that's one of our needs as well

Average TOI per game for each of our dmen during the playoffs:

Girardi: 26:51
McDonagh: 26:49
Staal: 25:17
Del Zotto: 21:39
Stralman: 16:55
Eminger: 6:48
Bickel: 5:09

Pretty thin when we don't have a #6 guy that can play more than 7 minutes a game. And if one of the top 4 get injured, it gets even thinner. Erixon will hopefully earn a fulltime spot this year, and Sauer will hopefully come back at some point from PCS. But we can't count on that.

Ideally we would add a 4/5 guy, insert Erixon on the bottom pair and get Sauer back by mid-season.

We could throw in Ryan O'Byrne into a package. Blocks shots, PKs, and is solid defensively. He would thrive in a 3rd pairing especially in a defensive system. The guy is huge and isn't afraid to throw hits either

Here's a video of him knocking down old man Chara

Don't like giving up a 1st in this. Keep the deal small and centred around Stastny and Staal.

Stastny+2nd for Staal?

I think some of you are under-rating MDZ here, I think he's a stud. Very envious of that McDonagh/Girardi/Staal/Del Zotto quartet...dont think given their ages any team can match that. Stepan is a great young 2C to Richards, not sure why the Rangers would need Stastny.

The Rangers have what we need but not sure we have what they need...

And just leave a gaping hole in our 3rd line center position? No thanks.

We need a #3C coming back in any Stastny trade that's why we're adding

We already have someone basically as productive as Stastny in Stepan, but at an 800k cap hit. We don't need picks.

We do need Staal, though. I don't really think there's a deal to be made here.

Okay. I agree. Probably no deal to be made here.

Aside from Stastny we really don't have many trading pieces to work with that aren't picks/prospects. Unless you think David Jones is a goal scoring winger, which I guess is possible.

Dubinsky is not worth Elliott & 1st..

Switch those two for Barrie & 2nd and I'm good.

Btw.. This was discussed in another thread and most Rangers fans don't see Stastny as the piece they need. A three way trade with Anaheim would be pretty good though involving Staal, Stastny, & Ryan plus whatever needed to make it work.

Honestly though most Avs fans believe Stastny is returning to form based on his 2012 production and how he played at the WC. He wont be off loaded for cheap regardless of what people think.

So you'd add Elliot and a 1st round pick just to get a 3rd line centre?

But if NYR did a deal like this, they'd have the C depth to then flip one of Statsny or Stepan in a deal for a player like Nash or Ryan.

lol no. it's because I don't think the rangers value Marc Staal evenly with Stastny. 1st + Elliott MIGHT be equal or a little over value for the difference between Staal and Stas when you add Dubinsky.

You gotta give if you want to get something good, they aren't going to make a bargain trade with us.

I'm not arguing that it's overpayment. but we aren't going to get a top pairing defenseman for scraps and we need a #3 C if we trade stas

Stastny+Elliot+1st is worth more than that package. None of Lupul, Gardiner or Kulemin are proven commodities.

I think i would be all over this!!! I think more with kulemin just because the chemistry with lupul and kessel. Elliott could fill the void of losing gardiner but we could finally have a #1 center. I think statsny would fit so well with lupul kessel.

Yeah, I doubt anything would happen now with PAP being signed. If you want some 4-7 Dmen, though, we'd be happy to provide.

I thought someone said you might want a 3rd line centre back? Would it be better if were Gardiner Bozak and a good prospect.

We don't really have any need for Gardiner unless Elliott is going, but if Elliott is going with Staz and a 1st, either Kessel or a package around Grabovski and Gardiner + would be necessary.

Oh ok i was just looking at thread and saw that package surrounding either Staal or MDZ, and wanted to chime in because i absolutely love that package. And thought that gardiner was our closest D to those two.

Hilarious if the deal was gardiner and lupul for that package.

I would say that Beauchemin trade REALLY worked out for us. lol

We need help on the wings.

Unless this is a proposal to flip a piece for Nash or Ryan.
