A great deal for us, but yet again we are backloading the contract. Hmm...

Both sides bit the bullet a bit on this one, so it's quite a fair deal. I'm happy that the Blues locked up Perron and took care of one of their own.

Was way off. I thought he'd get 3.75M.

Another nice deal for the Blues. They continue their solid reputation for being able to negotiate reasonable contracts.

Again I will state, Army is the best in the business. Thank you David for agreeing to stay for quite a while.

Now lets get Oshie's 4 yr 16 mill deal done too. And heck, might as well get Petro's 8 yr 48 mill done too.

It's a fair contract in comparison to what other players have been getting this year, but I honestly thought that he would get less money and less term.

Unrestricted, he would, but restricted, 6 million is pretty fair. Karlsson just got 6.5 and won the Norris. Doughty was a Norris finalist and got 7. Both teams are in much bigger markets than the Blues are. Another year with even more dominance from Pietro might change things, but less than 6 million wouldn't surprise me at all.

I didn't think he'd get a big contract, but I'm happy he did. Has anyone mentioned how ****ing good Armstrong is yet?

I think you are being really optimistic. I'd expect him to sign the same deal Karlsson got, but as I keep saying, I'd want him locked up on a lifetime deal.

If you're going to sign anyone to a lifetime deal, Pietro is a good call, but they probably won't do that. Under 6 wouldn't surprise me, but well over 7 wouldn't surprise me either. I just don't think that over 6 is in stone. You can compare players in a vacuum and say that Pietro is as good as or better than guys making more, but when a guy is restricted and the team is in a different situation, contracts vary.

How many years of UFA does this cover? It covers some, right?

2. He would have been an UFA in 2014.

I expected a shorter term, but slightly higher salary. Looks like that may be where they negotiated the longer term. As a Blues fan, I'm very happy with this deal.

If Oshie signs for 4M avg then the Blues will be at 53.0M in caphit with 14 forwards (including Schwartz), 7 dmen (inlcuding Woywitka at 700K), and 2 goalies accounted for.

I truly don't think the cap range will remain at 70.2/54.2 when all is said and done but they'll still need to sign one more player. Probably it'll be Langenbrunner and Schwartz' 1.167M will get pushed down. In other words, 2.367M for Langs would get them to the floor, and then the rollbacks (if any) would stay proportional to the floor.

Solid. It's amazing how many good contracts this team has (pretty much every player). Now I can't wait to get Oshie locked up!

Like this deal. On Petro, I want to buy up as many years as I can. I wouldn't feel comfortable giving any other player more than 5, but with him I go anywhere from 8 to 13 years if his people signs off on it...

Oshie and The Blues have filed for arbitration, but they can settle up to any time before or during that process. This guarantees that Oshie WILL DEFINITELY end up with a contract with The Blues at the end of the process, no matter how it turns out. So The Blues will have no UFA losses.
