Adam-Porter-Tropp?
Whitmore-Varone-Mancari (if he is the "former Amerk")?

From a Buffalo development perspective, it'd be nice to see Sundher brought along slowly in the AHL. No reason to thrust him into a big role right away.

I remember him being pretty quick when he was a prospect. Seems like a depth signing, someone to fight it out at camp for a depth role and with the loser heading to the A.

An assumption after talking with Ron Rolston: Unless Kevin Porter has a great camp with the #Sabres, he'll start with the #Amerks.

#Amerks coach Ron Rolston knows Kevin Porter very well. Got to NTDP after Porter left "but I recruited him when I was still at (Bos. Coll)."

Until we hear otherwise, I'm assuming this is a two-way contract and a top-six center for Rochester. I would also assume Kevin took one look at our center depth chart and thought, "One or two injuries and I'll be making big bucks in the NHL for a string games real fast." Good signing for the 'Merks and possible depth for the Sabres. Reminds me a bit of the Chewy signing.

He and Yip were the biggest reasons Stastny's assist numbers took a big hit. I like your team, but Kevin ''I played great'' Porter is a terrible NHLer and he can't stop rambling on about Michigan and how great it is there, I'm glad he's gone.

Yup. Curious to see the official numbers, but a good depth pickup. Porter will get lots of time to work on his game in Rochester and could be the 1st or 2nd callup depending on his performance.

I'm OK with this as an Amerks signing. There were clearly better AHL centers out there, but the Sabres just don't believe in players who really only help the AHL team out.

I would be suprised if its anything more then a 2year as fourth line or even 3rd line center (in case Grigo or girgy is not on starting roster this year) But more then likely AHL as depth in case of injury..Hes Followed and Following bobby ryan.....maybe with his signing will help in getting Ryan!!..

Maybe you misunderstood me. Players they don't see as viable recalls. A lot of NHL organizations sign vets that really only serve a purpose for the AHL team. It's not necessarily a bad thing, just a different philosophy.

There sure have been a lot of Hobey Baker award winners in the Sabres history.

Tom Kurvers
Robb Stauber
Brian Holzinger
Chris Drury
Ryan Miller
Jordan Leopold
Kevin Porter

Is that supposed to be snarky? There are all sorts of depth guys and tweeners out there many fans probably haven't heard of. That's what Google is for. Just because they don't have name value doesn't mean they don't serve a purpose, especially when it comes to filling out AHL rosters.

Wonder if we lead the league in that catagory - LOL!

Porter finished second to Nathan Gerbe in NCAA scoring back in 2007-2008 - the year
he won the Hobey Baker - Gerbe finished second. Gerbe got the last laugh as Boston
College won the national championship. Also known to locals who follow Niagara hockey -
he scored four goals in a first round NCAA playoff game against the Purple Eagles.

Kevin Porter - really a 3rd/4th line utility forward (more 4th than 3rd). On the cusp of being in the bigs vs minors. Plays hard but gets bounced off the puck and boards regularly. Was affordable given Colorado's low cap threshold strategy but deemed expendable (and replaceable) in the end by them.

Hopefully he's only an insurance policy but it bothers personally me to see the Sabres gobble up a Colorado cast off. (Everybody else's cast offs are OK with me. Just not the one's I watch regularly)

Avs still inclined to seriously upgrade their D with Bouwmeester's name mentioned. I would think Darcy is in a pretty good position to strike a deal for Stastny if that's where he wants to go. Maybe even a 3 way with Calgary in the mix?

NHL only then because if you even watched only the Frozen Four every year you'd know his name. Great college player. Fringe NHL'er.

No official announcement from the Sabres yet. Seems a bit odd. I know they're not going to hold a presser for a minor signing, but they at least had John Scott on the website right away.

So...the Sabres shouldn't sign good players for Rochester...they can't suck but they can't be too good either?

The guy should be a stud in Rochester and put up solid offensive numbers, but because he's had NHL experience he's bad?

Besides, the Sabres don't have many prospects at forward who would be worthy of a callup. If we followed your idea, which would be putting the AHL team ahead of the NHL team, we'd be calling up guys like Sundher and Flynn when the rash of injuries strike...just to keep a vet in Rochester. This way, you still get the vet but if we get a rash of injuries we'd have someone decent of NHL-ready to call-up.

Quite frankly, it's the same crap we heard last year, that Morrissonn wasn't a "AHL vet" because he had extensive NHL experience. He was there the whole year...

Again I wasn't complaining and, as usual, everything I say around here gets taken out of context. It's getting old.
