I can't see Dubnyk getting huge money, but I really like the term. The shorter term deal in this case should also help to keep the dollars down as he hasn't really proven anything yet.

EDIT - $3.5M seems pretty high for what he's done to this point, but it's pretty solid for a starting netminder if he proves he's up to the task.

3.5 mill per for Dubnyk....That is starter money....not top 10 Goalie money....but that is reasonable for a nhl starter......now he has to prove he can be a true # 1....just wish he had proven it before the contract

Hmm, I think they overpaid Dubnyk and got Petry for cheap, so almost evens out.

I was hoping for like 5 mill for both, so I can live with it.

Well done by Dubnyk's agent I guess. The nice thing about the deal is that it puts to rest any questions about who's the #1 goaltender next year.

The Petry contract is just outstanding.

Are they sure the numbers arent reversed? If they arent thats way way too much for dubnyk. Petry should fire his agent.

At $3.5 million per year, it is slightly expensive. However, it makes it clear to him that he is a starter.

Hopefully he lives up to that reputation.

$3.5m? Wow, this is a clear overpayment. Don't like it.

Petry's is fine.

Okay so 5.25M for Dubnyk and Petry is about right, but they seem ass backwards.

I don't really understand how Dubnyk got this contract given that he's never played more than 50 games in a season.

Then again, Price got $3M more than that for a .02 difference in save percentage.

Bottom: I think Dubnyk could play up to the level of this contract but I don't think he's earned these dollars yet. If this was what the Oilers wanted, they should have made it a 4 year deal then.

Well, he'll likely be getting most of the starts this next season. We'll see how he does.

I think it may be a little steep, but only by half a mill. This should give Dubnyk some confidence and the term offers little risk. This is probably a fairer deal than it appears, with the cap up to 70 mill. 3.5 is just slightly over what the average player makes on a cap team. I can live with this.

3.5 is a lot. But for 2 years I guess it's okay.

Perhaps a slight overpayment, but considering we don't have any other options in net, I'm not sure what else we could have done here. Glad it's just for two years.

Term is low, and Petry's money cancels out the over payment on this. The extra cash for Dubnyk should be in Petry's pocket, but together the contracts are fine.

You can live with it if he continue his upward trend and becomes a decent starter for the whole season. We don't know yet if this will happen, which is why 3.5m is clearly too much.
