$1.75M is the dollar figure. Great deal for the Oilers.

The Petry and Dubnyk contracts average out to a mediocre deal

Petry's contract is simply outstanding. I will guarantee he will out perform it. Maybe he needs Dubnyk's agent, lol.

My guess is his next contract will come with a hefty raise.

Petry's contract is a steal. Almost makes up for the Dubnyk overpayment from the Oilers POV.

Great money, and I like the two years. I'd hate to see Tambo pull a KLowe and start handing out 4-5 year deals that aren't yet warranted by a player's performance.

$1.75M is a great cap hit and the best part is he'll still be an RFA at the end of it. That is, unless the UFA age is lowered again in the next CBA.

Came on here to congrats Tamby on his first contract that isnt an overpay. At least that sentiment lasted 5 minutes

Although a long term gamble would have been alright with me, i'd imagine Petry's camp wasn't of the same mind. The money is excellent as is the term. Petry didn't have enough experience to really leverage more out of negotiations. After two years the Oilers should know what they got, and combined with the fact he's an RFA, they should be able to get him signed to a fair deal longterm.

Great deal, too bad the Dubnyk overpay kinda makes that a moot point

Well, with Smid and Petry, Tambo really seems to have a good grasp on getting D-men at a very good price.

And when it comes to goalies, he seems to be completely out to lunch...
