Another Brodeur on NHL Draft horizon

Quote:
While the list of top prospects entering the 2012-13 campaign seems to be growing by the minute, there's one name that may stick out among all others when the 2013 NHL Draft is held at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., next spring.

Goalie Anthony Brodeur, who just so happens to be the son of New Jersey Devils goalie Martin Brodeur, certainly will be on the radar of curious NHL scouts and general managers.

[...]

"I saw Brodeur play last year and I liked the way he played," Central Scouting's Al Jensen told NHL.com. "He's more of a 'C List' watch to start this year. He has more of a hybrid style, has some of Marty's instincts. He reads plays well and reacts well, shows good quickness and athleticism. He's got a good glove and competes very well. He will obviously get a lot of attention this year, but will be a good watch."

That'll be an interesting follow next draft regardless of how high he gets ranked - would be something for him to get drafted by the Devils in their own arena

I really want the Devils to draft him and have one game where he backs up Marty. That would be insane to see

Even for a preseason game, that would be pretty incredible.

I actually think it would be cooler to see him play against Marty.

Can he play in preseason if he's in college?

He would have to sign a contract or could he sign a ATO?

I have a friend play against him a few years ago who scored a hatty on him

Said he's going to get drafted based on his name and hope.

Granted that was like 3-4 years ago.

Watch the Rags draft him just so the Devils don't get a chance.

Then in 5 years the Devils play the Rags again in the ECF and Matteau scores on Brodeur in overtime of game 7.

This is clearly planned. Lou wants to start a monarchy in goal here in New Jersey.

Was it Boulton's kid?

(I know Boulton only scored one against Marty that night. Point is scoring a hat trick doesn't make you an authority on goaltending)

Well that settles it. No kid ever improves his game between the ages of 12 and 17

Also

Maybe marty signed the two year deal because he didnt want a non-brodeur to play, and he knew his son was going to have a super skill growth spurt which will make him NHL Calibre by the time his dad retires

AND

I hope he gets drafted by the rangers

screws them

and sings in NJ for league min for 20 years cause his dad is GM

Another thought: Lets say he becomes a 1B to Wedgewoods IA. Do we put 30 in the rafters AND on his back?

Exactly! Just imagine how cool it would be for Marty to be in the room getting ready for the game with his son!

If I understand it correctly, if he goes to college, he can come as long as he pays his own way through (airfare, there MIGHT be a fee for the ice but I'm not sure). Shouldn't be a problem considering the $$$ his pops is pulling in.

He's what, 16 ? will be 17 when he's drafted ?

Marty could of signed a 4 yr deal still probably wouldn't get a chance to play with his kid so let's put that out of our minds now.

The best goalie prospects usually take 3-6 yrs to develop.

Yeah, even if the Devils draft him, there will be a starter for a few years between Brodeur and Brodeur. Although I do like the idea of having Anthony backing up his pop in a preseason game.
