Salary Arbitration Summer of 2012: Walk-Away #

Ok, I looked around and couldn't find a thread on this in the business of hockey or the free agent section. Since this is more CBA/business-oriented, I'm posting the question here.

Hearings will be held in Toronto from July 20 to August 4, 2012.

Has anyone seen the walk-away number for this year's salary arbitration awards published, if any of the 15 (16 but Perron already signed) player-elected arbitrations make it to the hearing and an arb. award?

My quick math calculation was an estimated walk-away figure of $1,753,000. Can anyone confirm?

Sounds about right.

I haven't seen the number published, but the Walk Away threshold is indexed to to year-to-year increase in Average Player Salary - the same index used for RFA compensation levels.

RFA thresholds have increased by (1,110,249/660,000) = 1.68x, so the Walk Away threshold should be $1,042,173 * 1.68 = $1,753,139.

Yup, that's the same way I got the number I posted above. I rounded for posting here, but had the same $1,753,139. Thanks for confirming you got the same figure.

Psst -- there was a separate thread on that, and it's in the stickied bus info thread.
