Take away the Habs terrible first period last game and the Habs may have won that game rather than lose. They would have at least sent it to OT or forced the Devils to open up a bit more. The key to the game is Montreal will have to score first. They can't get down like they did against the Sabres in both recent games and against the Devils. Take the lead and add to it. Keep attacking. Sooner or later Brodeur will let them in.
When the Devils get the lead it is next to impossible to come back (at least for the Habs for whatever reason). So the key is to get the lead and keep it. From the time players skates hit the ice to the time their skates leave the ice, they need to skate like there is no tomorrow (because..um...if they lose, there won't be). And if faced with a choice between letting a shot go through to Huet and blocking it with your face, the choice should be obvious. No passengers please. Do or die!
I was hoping it would be a mean nothing game for new jersey but that isn't the case.
thanks to jersey's 10 game winning streak and the slumping rangers, the devils will be in a position to clinch the divison title with one point depending on how the rangers do against the sens.
There will be alot of scoreboard watching going on from the devils bench as those games both take place on the last day of the season with the opening faceoffs just 30 minutes apart.
Since this is a big game for New Jersey, we can bank on the fact that Brodeur will start and the devils will not rest any of their key guys like gomez, parise, gionta, or elias. So I would really like the habs to clinch via a thrasher loss because the devils will give the habs all they can handle.
