This. Bouwmeester is one guy who could improve the D without giving up Schenn or Couturier or Voracek or anything major. Plus while he's still overpaid, it's only for 2 years, and maybe the change of scenery could rejuvenate some of his offense.
I think Bouwmeester would be perfect. He brings a lot to the table, and with Timonen coming off the books next summer, his contract wouldnt be bad at all, and we could still try to land the franchise defender in another way next year.

I'd like Bouwmeester. Dan Boyle might be better fit for an immediate impact as well as a lower cost, but I don't think either are coming to Philly for what I'd spend. Add Doan to the mix with either of those two (without giving up much for the Dmen) and the Flyers become one of the best, most balanced teams in the league. Yandle, Enstrom, and probably some others are available, but I feel Homer has tested the waters and didn't like the results. It's still been only a matter of hours since Carle's official movement, maybe we'll see someone other than Gervais.
I'm torn on the Semin question. He could bring so much to the table: true sniper for G, elite winger who can produce on his own, PP, PK, Shootout go-to guy. Despite my strong belief in all of that, I'm still iffy on this player.
For will be I said stay put, but if either one of Semin or Doan can be signed to a short deal, which I don't think at least Semin will agree to (preferably one year but up to 4 for Semin) then they should go for it.
Semin would essentially be replacing Jagr or JVR. In both cases defense wasnt a strong suit. And Semin showed in Hunters system he can play a more defensive role.
Sign Semin for a 1-2 year deal and try to get J-Bo on the cheap seems like the best options. Without having our own RFAs signed could mean they are being shopped around also.
Doan will probably stay in PHX. I'm scared of trades for Nash/Ryan because it could screw our future. However, we have a lot of cap space. I'd like them to give a 1 year deal to someone like Mueller. Low risk, high reward.
Agreed. Price is in an elite group of goaltenders. He is just downright scary between the pipes when he is on form. God help us if mtl ever get a decent defense together.
