Did you call grabo a shut down D- man?

So Grabo must be better than Marleau in your eyes because Marleau's best years are when they were on separate lines...

If Marleau is considered better, and thats reasonable, then MacArthur and a 2nd seems like very good compensation to make up the difference.
let alone the fact that the sharks should never take grabo, macarthur and a 2nd from tml for Marleau, did you a) really just try and say that grabo has in essence all the skills that marleau has (solid two way player who is fast) and b) if you look at marleau's history with thornton and without marleau doesn't all the sudden go from elite top player to grabo....it just doesn't work that way.

Nuts, alright thanks guys. I do like Marleau, think he's pretty underrated. I can easily understand not wanting to trade him.

We don't exactly have the greatest tradeable assets right now either.

Wouldn't the idea of trading Marleau be to add Nash? Marleau to the Leafs for picks/prospects. Sharks flip T.O.'s picks/prospects +Pavelski and their own picks/prospects for Nash?

So the Sharks lose Marleau and Pavelski to gain Nash and some prospects? Doesn't really help the Sharks.

I'm starting to get the feeling other fans see Marleau as nothing more than a cap dump at this point (I think there was a Rangers fan in a different thread who said that outright). Some of these deals are borderline insulting.

Every big name player that is aval is a cap dump becasue teams don't want to pay what their value is. Trust me as a canucks fan we have been dealing with this craziness for the last 19000+ posts in the luongo threads

If it wasn't for the contract and it was a decent prospect, I'd consider that.

Toronto should be extremely interested in Marleau. They would finally have their #1 center and also have playoff experience and leadership. However, San Jose isn't going to let Patrick go for cheap.

I have always been a big Marleau fan, I'd love to see him in an Isles jersey.

In fact he was (on NHL 12 for my Isles franchise), but I know there is no chance at all the Isles will get him.

Even with the trade pieces, they would never take on that salary. I think it would be so good for the team to inject a player of Marleau's skill level and would really add to the team dynamic. An actual veteran goal scorer.

But going with AHL level players and a few NHLers is a better plan. Sigh.

Marleau to Montreal rumours/trade proposals in HF are as old as Lecavalier to Montreal threads. One died down a lot more than the other.

I hate doing trade proposals as we all generally stink at them but in the spirit of annoying Sharks fans:

Leblanc + Ellis and a 2014 1st
Than again that's a re-build package for a couple years down the road and not for right now

It's a hell of a lot reliable than the only one "approved" here...

As for Marleau, depending on the price, I'd take him in Montreal if they had to sacrifice a center for a top 6 left winger. The guy can play center or wing and he's a hell of a lot more productive than... Gomez.

I refuse to trade Percy.

Something tells me Burke would only make a deal for Marleau if 1 of Lombardi, Connolly, or Komisarek was going the other way.. however this isnt real life so ill give it a try.

Kulemin
Franson
2nd rd pick (conditional to making the playoffs)

for

Marleau

Marleau's best days are behind him. At 33 it makes no sense for the Leafs who won't be a contender in the next 2 years. We need a younger center to grow with this group.

The Leafs would surely be interested without a doubt but we don't have the win-now pieces that the Sharks require. Kadri,Percy,Colborne, picks etc are nice and everything but won't contribute much next season for you(minus Kadri). The only players we have that are expendable and can help someone out now are MacArthur,Kulemin, and Gunnar and even then I'd hate to see the last two go simply because I believe they'd come back to haunt us. I doubt Wilson would wanna deal Marleau to this market, see him flourish and do some damage with the Leafs. With him in our lineup we've got a pretty damn good top 6. Still though, we don't have the parts to realistically make a deal for pretty much any first line center.

That package does not get you a 70+ point center. Especially since Kulemins coming off a horrible year.
