I think it really is. I think everyone in the West actually looks weaker then last season. Seems like everyone out East loaded up for a chance to play in the CG and everyone out West excluding the Lions helped out.

Very nice.

---------------------------

Still room to improve on kickoff coverage, secondary dropped a number of sure INTs, but awesome start. Buck Salo's still doing his thing, Geroy's #1 in pass yardage forever after, Lulay's awesome...glad my Sports Fan's life is still going in the absence of NHL hockey.

1-0. Bring on the rest!

Was at the game tonight, great to witness history, again. (Was there when Pringle broke the all-time rushing record). Geroy Simon, hands down the best professional athlete Vancouver and BC has ever seen.

Unfortunately, I was sweating by the end of the first quarter. Good to see the half a billion dollar roof is being put to good use.

Wasn't the roof open tonight?

Never heard that one.

Pretty boring game to be at most of the way. Thankfully Geroy saved the night.

Some of those returns were sights to see. Defense looked pretty solid though, at least compared to the Swaggerville coverage.

Same. It's a total sauna.

According to Farhan, it was closed because the forecast called for rain in the second half. Between the way the weather is here and the fact you can't open or close the roof during a game, it seems like we're likely to get maybe one or two open-roof games a year.

I understand that if there's a certain POP in the forecast, they'll have it closed. However, they can still easily open during a game. They just can't close it if it's raining.

Looks like it'll be a sunny day on Friday, with 0% chance of rain. As much as Buono likes having the roof closed, I hope there's something in place from him keeping it closed all season.

Screw the East. I mean, they couldn't win ONE game for us?

Don't know if anyone listened to Jeff Paterson yesterday afternoon, bur he was went off about the roof being closed. Ulrich and Mason added their two cents as well. Basically, the fans, (taxpayers) are getting screwed over by the 'closed roof first' policy the Lions have.

Bobby Lenarduzzi came on later and in a nutshell said if there's a hint of good weather, the roof is open for Whitecaps matches.

EDIT: No joke, as I was writing this the Lions called me to ask what I thought about the game experience. The roof was the first thing and he told me they've been hearing about it all week. I also mentioned ticket prices, and he said to call the Lions directly next time, and I'll save about $5 in ticketmaster fees.

My bad. He sent me the link, but it only saves from Ticketmaster's "Order Processing Fee" which is $5. So instead of $91 for a pair through ticketmaster, it's $86 for a pair through the Lions directly. Not even the cost of a beer.

7-11 has their two ticket promotion back only it's now 2 for $76, upper deck endzone section only. Shouldn't be too hard to find a bunch of empty seats in the lower bowl. The north side had sections that were half empty.

I was at the game. Watching Geroy get the record was amazing. He is a true gentleman.

His family was there to see him too. They were in one of the luxury boxes not far from where I was sitting. They seemed quite overjoyed.

I am so looking forward to this season. It is going to be great!

Excited for the Cat fight tonight. They will have the roof open too, so hopefully we get a good crowd out there.

I don't know if you can call the first game of the season an upset but I know most were expecting the Cats to win. But they lost...and they didn't just lose, they got obliterated.

Gonna be a snarly pissed off and somewhat embarrassed team looking for redemption tonight.

Lions are the defending champions playing at home and coming off a big win to kick the season off... Benevides gets his first win, Geroy breaks the all time receiving record...

Lions best stay focused and not get too cocky tonight. Not that I expect them to but this game might have trap written all over it.... do we say "it's a trap" in football too?
