To - nsh - van

Just tried this in Luongo thread and so far fans from all teams like the idea......

Leafs

Give
Kadri
1st
Franson

Get
Luongo

Preds

Give
Weber

Get
Edler
Kadri
1st
Raymond

Canucks

Give
Edler
Luongo
Raymond

Get
Weber
Franson

Reasoning:

Toronto does not give up core assets and if people thought they could contend for a playoff spot last year they are a lot better now. Do not lose any players who even played an entire season!

Nashville gets a replacement for Weber plus assets to build around. If someone offer sheets Weber Nsh will either get 2 1sts, 2nd, 3rd or 4 1sts. If a team is to offer sheet Weber and NSH matches he cannot be traded and Nashville loses him for nothing!

Edler = 2 1sts
Kadri + Raymond = 1st
1st included

Vancouver clears space to sign Weber and upgrade their defence.

so the preds and leafs get hosed while vancouver makes away like bandits?

LOL, I love how Vancouver trades away 2 players nobody wants for an upgrade from Edler to Weber.

Nashville needs alot more coming back for Weber. The Leafs will not be giving up that package for Luongo either.

As said in the Lu thread, Edler is a great piece in a Weber deal, but we'd rather get 2 great pieces than 1 great piece and 3 good pieces.

It's not an awful proposal, but we can do much better.

If that is the best package Poile can swing for Weber then something is really wrong.

Or, TO gives up nothing and fills the biggest, gaping hole in their roster.

Or, Nashville gives up a guy who won't play there for more than a year and gets back a lesser #1 with upside, a somewhat promising rookie center and very fast, defensively sound third/second line tweener

Basically, it's a realistic hockey trade instead of the crap homer's tend to post as realistic alternatives.

From the Canucks perspective, they give up one of the best goalies in the game, an excellent top pairing defenseman they should be able to re-sign for a decent deal (given his lack of consistency at times), and a very good third/second liner (regardless of what the noobs say about Raymond), for a player that MAY be interested in coming to Vanvcouver next year anyway at no cost at all.

I'm not saying anyone should take this deal, but at least it's somewhat realistic.

If it makes it more palatable to Leafs, I have no interest in Franson, so he can be replaced with a 2nd, or even dropped totally if it gets the deal done.

Nashville can do better in a Weber trade. Edler would have to be resigned, or he could walk next season as a UFA.

First of all, while I don't expect Weber to sign a long term deal and to be traded, there is nothing concrete to say he won't. If we're operating under the assumption that he will be traded, fine, but it should probably be phrased as speculation rather than fact.

Second, Edler is the only part of the package that would actually benefit the Preds right now. Raymond is redundant, and Kadri has proven nothing yet. The 1st is cool and all, but Nashville's prospect pool is already pretty good. Picks aren't very appealing unless Poile feels he needs a complete rebuild (which I doubt happens).

Again, not a bad return, but Nashville can do better.

I said it in the Luongo thread, and i'll say it here. I am freakin' tired of losing. Anyone who thinks we win with Reimer/Scrivens is nuts. Maybe we do, but why not try actually having a proven starter? Anyone remember the days of Joseph, Belfour, Potvin?? These were guys that if the D faltered WOULD 9 times out of 10 bail us out. And for those of you about to start with the whole "10 year contract", if Luongo needs to be moved in 3-4 years, don't you think that the guy who moved Blake, Toskala and Hell even Lebda for value can move Luongo? NO solid players are going to consider TO until we actually win. Again...since the cap era began, 29 teams have made the playoffs...care to guess the 1 that didn't?? Time to bring the Blue and White back into NHL relevance.

Yeah, I don't think the Leafs like it. I just don't think Lou is worth that much, or Weber worth so little.

Great...lets just keep on losing...we're way better off with Kadri playing at best 3rd line minutes and Franson on the 3rd pairing or pressbox than we are with a starting goalie....

Que? Your description of Kadri changes from one sentense to the next.

Hell ya! I know if I was a Leafs fan, this is how I would feel. The cap era is messing with fans heads, you should still want the best players available to play for your team. Luongo is a great player.

Edler has an expiring contract, just like Lu's. I don't see why Nashville would make that deal, they'll be after guys that they can control for a while me thinks.

Yes, and I remember all the Stanley Cups we won with them in net

A #1 goalie would be great, but Lou is not the last piece of the puzzle.

Right...cause the playoffs suck. Jesus...i can't believe how complacent we've become. So your good with another 9th-14th finish?? Hooray.
