2nd significant leg injury before he even reaches the NHL. I already was all for packaging him up over any other blueliner in the system, now it may not be a realistic option as other teams will be too hesitant.

Not sure/can't remember what the first was, but this is NOT a significant leg injury.
Now if only Sather could fake some more injuries for the rest of our prospects.
Sorry Scott, everybody's injured, guess you'll just have to hand over Rick for nothing. Jesper? No, he's got a hangnail. Well, those are the trading rules, sorry Scotty Boy, hand him over. Oh yeah, you have to retain half his contract also. It'll help you reach the salary floor.
I honestly didn't realize McIlrath was so hated on here. You would think some people want him to actually fail so they can be proven right that he was a bust.
Who needs Devils and Penguins fans to root against you when you have your own fan base to do it for you?

hurts development and increases the risks of future problems.
The likelihood of him making the club next season takes a hit as well.
whoa i'm sorry, the fantasy league GMs have spoken.
He's had a few injuries. Big whoop. Every player has them. He's not even what you'd call injury prone.
This one, in particular, was a freak injury.

Yep, this isn't that bad. I thought I first read "shattered" and I nearly cried (man this team could have used Cherneski over the years...). Thank God it was only dislocated. That's no big deal. Get the surgery, strengthen it up, and he'll be good to go.
Pretty ticked he sustained the injury in development camp
You would prefer that it happened on opening night after he made the team out of training camp? If he was going to have an injury I can't think of a better time to have it...with a couple months off before hockey resumes. If all goes according to plan he shouldn't miss a single game wherever he ends up.

people are allowed to not like a pick you know, especially since we're constantly drafting defenseman and can't score goals...
take it easy suzie, no one said they hated him, wanted him to fail, waiting around to call him a bust. many of you have this martyr complex on this board. When someone disagrees with you or expresses a contrary opinion, you have to go to great lengths to distort the opinion so that you can ridicule it.

now that's what really stinks about this board.
How was I twisting anything. Weren't you the one that called a dislocated knee cap a 'serious leg injury'?
And honestly...can you say with a straight face that there aren't people on here that want guys to fail so they can say they were right?
Never said you have to like all the picks...but you could act like you want the kid to succeed and not make outrageous claims like "his stock is dropping!" because he suffered a minor injury.

Why do you think he was drafted? He's a physical, defensive d-man who's not afraid to do some scrapping. If he stops playing like that, why would the Rangers want him? It doesn't make any sense.
Last time I checked, there is a significant higher risk for physical players to get injured than say, non-physical players. I'm pretty sure the Rangers scouts were aware of this when they drafted him, and that it was a risk they were willing to take.

ok i'm a little dramatic. i'm just not happy because i wanted him to make the cut in camp.
i want this kid in the lineup. wasn't crazy about the pick on draft night but i like the type of player he is.

Some of our associates here love to remind us that their preferred player was a better pick than Gordie's. Like I really care.
What I can't understand is how come they don't have jobs in hockey.

People can have their opinions...it's America, right?
Just what irks me if the people who seem to be hell bent on ******** on the Rangers players. This is a pretty good hockey team as presently assembled...and they have prospects that a lot of teams seem to want. So what's the problem?
Its not a martyr thing as someone said, but I've just always though that if the guy puts on that jersey then I'm gonna root for him no matter what.
If he plays his style and becomes a 2nd pairing defenseman in the mold of a Beukeboom then his jersey will be all over MSG... Meanwhile, we've had to endure years of negative posting beforehand...
Just gotta trust Gordie I guess. Tho...have they really made a bad first round pick in the last 5 or 6 years?
I think they've earned our trust for the most part. You can't win them all, but they've had a good track record, considering where they've been selecting.

I don't think he was a good bet to make the team out of camp this year, injury or not. Perhaps as a mid season call up...or more likely next season. So this injury doesn't really effect his timetable imo.
