Kinda gettin fed up for the next trade to happen. Prolly not gonna happen for another 2 weeks. Any trade would be nice. Like say maybe bozak or lombardi? or even connoly? Ah well. Patience is key i guess
I don't see how getting getzlaf and luongo instantly make us a contending team. Considering the talent that will be shipped out to acquire them and the fact that luongo sucks, factored with how stacked the east has become. A middling season with a gutted team with a UFA center and a hack goalie locked in for a decade sound worse to me than possibly tanking with youth and getting a C or a goalie(if we need one) in FA next year

Your right with the contract, but luongo does not suck. He is a solid goalie in this league. Just needs to get his confident back and who knows, he might acctually start playing like he's worth his contract. Just look at what Jonathan Quick did for the kings last season

His play under pressure is terrible, and I equate that to suck. A profesional needs to play when it matters and its not his confidence. He can play an excellent season (his stats are good) and fold like a house of cards as soon as the play offs start. Not professional, therefore a hack.
Who cares how good u are in the season if u repeatedly choke when it matters? No thanks
Lou has epic breakdowns, no thanks. Price or Rask or Quick sure... Those are not in reach but tenders at or slightly below in compete are a must...if you want to go far.

I was reading on another board that Vancouver has a guy in the A who they might promote. Although I guess Florida does have to deal a goalie anyway.

Luongo rates somewhere between 10 and 15 in the list of NHL regular goalies, IMO. If you disagree with that rating, go look at the stats for goalies from last year when the starter for the best team in the NHL regular season ended up exactly there in the key goaltender stats. Rate the goalies one by one and see where you think he comes out. That would make him slightly above average among all NHL goalies and probably slightly below average for goalies of playoff teams. But he is paid like an elite goalie and will be for a long, long time.
He is certainly a big improvement on what we have had, but, given the contract, it is ridiculous to think that the asking price should be that of even an average NHL goalie, let alone an elite one. My real question, if I were GM, would be whether I would accept him, even at a very low price. I wouldn't dream of giving a valuable piece of the future like Gardiner.

That's MORE than 1 blow up every 6 playoff games! That means he has single handedly, or mostly contributed to losing 1 or 2 games per series!
I don't wanna say the deal is close or not but I do remember reading somewhere on these forums that some radio stations in Anaheim were saying a trade was in the process or completed. This was a while ago though maybe it didn't fall through? Who knows but I know for a fact that there was rumors that a trade between the Leafs and Ducks was happening so this guy isn't lying.
