What happend to Komi? Did he lost his stride or something.

I think Toronto should hang on to him and hope he gets some past form together. If he does he could have some value at this years or next years trade deadline.

I don't see a need for Toronto to clear cap space immediately.

Komi never had a stride in Toronto; he showed some glimmer of hope early this pass season but it just ended with him being a healthy scratch for the last 15 games or so. The leafs have enough depth at d to move Komi and his big cap hit.

I am thinking a 3rd round pick for him.

Thoughts on this?

This will also give Burke some more cap space to improve his fwds.
I wouldn't do a 3rd round pick. I would do Corey Potter and a 5th or later. We aren't as desperate for hitting 3rd pairing guys as you think though, with Sutton, Peckham and possibly Teubert. I don't know if Komisarek fits.

The only thing that happened to him was that he lost Andrei Markov as a defense partner.

Leafs fans need to get away from the obsession with Komisarek. In case you didn't notice, the Leafs traded Luke Schenn, without getting a defenceman back. You look at the rest of the group, and there's not much of a physical presence anymore. Morgan Rielly isn't going to all of a sudden jump onto this team and be a physical shot-blocking defenceman. I guess there's hope for Korbinian Holzer to do that, but let's not count our chickens before they hatch.

The last thing they need to be doing is trying to pawn off Komisarek for zero value, or even worse, a bad contract at a position where we don't need it.

I'm not saying it's a good contract... but if the Leafs were to trade Komi, they'd have to go out and search for a defenceman just like him. With $12m in space, a guy like Lombardi who doesn't fit in our lineup, and no more than $6m in RFAs to resign, the only way the Leafs should trade Komisarek is it's to improve the team.

Works for me, no take backs

The Oilers have no interest in the Leafs bad contracts...unless of course the Leafs would like to take Shawn Horcoff back.

Would have to be for Horcoff.

Try unloading that contract on a team that doesn't have one worse than your own.
